Master Rules Gala Day

What a wonderful day Sunday the 23rd of August was at the TCA.  Hobart Football Club hosted the gala day of the Masters Football with 8 teams including Launceston, Triabunna, Lindisfarne x2, Kingston, Sorell, Huon competing the games commencing at 10.15 and concluding at 3.45.  The weather was fantastic the games intriguing with some varied skills and some of the old time greats really strutted their stuff. The grand final was won by Lindisfarne Giants who defeated Kingston in a thrilling game. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped out on the day!

One of our own greats Tony Rosendale (aka Rozza)

Often what happens in sport in terms of coaching, supporting players and clubs goes unnoticed but not this time. I first met Rozza 7 years ago when my son wanted to play junior football at Hobart Football Club and after a chat with Rozza I realised how devoted he was to helping this group learn football and life skills. Tony had coached this rough and tumble group since Auskick and he was well respected by the boys. Tony had a vision for this group and that was to win a premiership to reward their efforts and to produce some class footballers.  The following year another junior Blaine Johnson joined our ranks and after one training run Rozza's comments were that this kid is sensational and with the right coaching he can play in the big time. The rest is history as the group went about winning the under 14 premiership.  The next part of the story is that Blaine Johnson has progressed to this year play with Carlton Football Club.  Add to this 5 of those boys played seniors at Hobart this year, one at Claremont and one at Kingston. Not a bad effort!  Tony was obviously not content with this as two years ago he commenced coaching another group at Claremont and you guessed it, this week they won the STJFL under 16 premiership.  The man must be dedicated, as this year Tony also coached Hobart seconds and I am sure he will mould this group into a premiership team in the future. The Hobart Football Club thank you for your input to football and we congratulate you on your wonderful achievements!
