11am to 1:30pm

We will be hosting our Annual Club Picnic and 2nd Annual Coaches vs Parents game on Sunday, September 14th  at North Collier Regional Park. The club will provide hamburgers and hot dogs.  We ask that each parent provide a dish to serve or desert (i.e. chips, salads, fruit trays, favorite family dish, brownies, cookies, etc..) and bring plenty of water to share.

The Coaches vs Parents game will begin at 11:30am with parents asked to wear a red soccer jersey or t-shirt.  Parents interested in playing in the game are encouraged to contact Paul Williams at doc@floridafirejuniors.com next week in order to participate.
We look forward to having everyone join in on the food and fun at this years event!

Dave Anderson Promoted to
Technical Director for the Club

The Florida Fire Juniors have promoted Dave Anderson as the technical director for the club.  Dave will work closely with DOC Paul Williams to continue to further develop the curriculum that the Florida Fire Juniors coaches and players will be utilizing this season.  Dave will also work closely with the Florida Fire Juniors coaches on a daily basis.

“I am excited about my new position in the club.  I look forward to working closely with Paul and the coaches to help with the development of our coaches in all aspects of the game. It will allow me to work with all Fire players throughout the program and hopefully aid in their development from our academy level players to our U18's. Special thanks to Paul Williams, Paul Kindred, Rob Anderson and the BOD for giving me this great opportunity’. – Dave Anderson “Dave’s full time appointment is a huge step forward for the club. His vast experience and coaching ability will impact all our teams in a very positive way”. – Paul Williams

Boys 99 Premier and Girls 97 Premier
Finish as Runners-Up at the 2014 Disney Showcase Qualifier

The Florida Fire Juniors U15 Premier boys had a successful weekend at the Disney Showcase Qualifier this past weekend.  The tournament began with a 2-0 victory over Florida Kraze Black despite playing the last 40 minutes with only ten boys on the field.  Aided by excellent conditioning and precision passing the boys were able to dominate possession for the duration.  Their second game versus Strictly Soccer ended in a 1-1 tie after a very physical game played without one of their starting defenders who was serving a suspension for receiving two yellow cards in the first game. The game on Sunday was played against Brevard Soccer Alliance and a win was needed to ensure advancement to the playoffs.  The boys took the field back at full roster and dispatched of the opponent quickly as they moved on to the playoffs with a 3-0 victory.  Monday morning’s semi-final found the boys paired up against an oversized and imposing JFC team.  Once again the boys employed the skills taught to them and cruised to an easy 4-0 victory as they continually frustrated the opponent with dominating possession.

The championship game came against an unknown South Orlando SC with the opponent bringing good size and speed that proved an excellent match for the boys.  The game ended in a 1-1 tie, and after two overtime periods the game was still tied and went to penalty kicks to determine a winner.  After nine kicks for each team, the boys fell just short of their ultimate goal of a championship and accepted defeat graciously after a long, hot, grueling battle. The boys played extremely well and accomplished the goal of automatically qualifying for the Disney Showcase in December. The boys would like to thank Dave Anderson for training them the past month as well as Paul Williams and Chris Cashion for coaching them during the tournament.  Now that Coach Luke Voyce has returned from England, the boys are looking to build upon last year's success in the Florida State Premier League, where they finished on top of the standings with an undefeated season in league play.

The Florida Fire Juniors U17 Girls Premier team has started their season with the same success they ended their previous season with.  The U17 Girls are currently playing in the Region III Premier League East in which they play the top teams from: Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina.  They have already traveled to South Carolina and Gainesville tallying up two wins and 1 tie with no losses.  The wins included beating the number one ranked team, and last year’s state champion, in North Carolina.  They are still in the beginning stages of their season but hope for the same success throughout.  They will face the other semi-finalist of Florida, Braden River, on September 20th.

The U17 Girls also played in the Disney Qualifier this past weekend.  They previously won this event last year, and this year definitely had a target on their back competing against the other top teams in Florida, looking to knock our girls off.  They were able to stay undefeated until the championship game against IMG, however, as the ball bounced their way last year winning in the last minute of overtime against Space Coast United, this year they fell short being on the opposite end losing 2-1 in OT.  The highlight of the tournament was in the 3rd game in group stages where they had to win against Team Boca in order to advance to the semi-finals. After being up 1-0 all game, and dominating possession, Team Boca scores an amazing goal from 30m out to tie the game up with only 3 minutes remaining.

With the girls not ready to give up, they quickly pushed numbers forward and with only seconds left in the game, they had another Disney miracle capitalizing on a breakaway by Kylee Rullo. With the odds against them playing 5 games in 3 days, they definitely showed their perseverance and guaranteed themselves a spot in this year’s Disney Showcase in December.  Great job girls and our whole club is proud of you!
