The Radix Endeavor: An online game for STEM learning

Welcome Back for Another Great Year with The Radix Endeavor

We hope you all had a great summer and that you are excited to use The Radix Endeavor with your students this academic year.  We had some great feedback from the nearly 8000 Radix users.  Some of you wanted to be able to use parts of the game during the fall semester to coincide with specific units you are teaching and many teachers across the country were interested in providing more formal feedback on the game.  We want to make sure you all have a chance to use the game according to your scope and sequence so we have extended the pilot through the 2014-2015 academic year. As a result, we have added a few new ways to enroll. We have also opened up the pilot to middle school teachers and students. Check out the Research Enrollment Form to determine which participation level meets your needs. You need to complete the form to participate in the pilot for this academic year EVEN if you participated last spring!

Getting Support from the Radix Team, Other Teachers and Players

Did you know that the RESOURCES section of the teacher dashboard includes links to a suite of resources to support your use of the game? You will need to be logged in as a teacher to access the many resources including bridge curriculum, tool tutorials, and quest walkthroughs. You can also check out the forums and our newest resource ASK VIRAZa column by a local high school student who has been playing the game and sharing tips and tricks in the forum. Point your students to his answers and encourage them to ask him questions or share tips of their own.

About The Radix Endeavor
MIT's Education Arcade and Scheller Teacher Education Program received a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to develop an immersive virtual learning experience to support high school math and biology instruction.  Working collaboratively with teachers, we have created The Radix Endeavor, a multi-player online games for STEM learning that incorporates:
  • A flexible web-based design that allows students to play anywhere, anytime; in school or at home.
  • Quest-based learning aligned with current biology standards in Genetics, Ecosystems, Evolution, and Human Body Systems as well as math standards in Algebra, Geometry, and Statistics.
  • Optional lesson plans and support materials that allow teachers to easily integrate the game into classroom instruction.
