MVLP SEEKING EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR/GENERAL COUNSEL

The Mississippi Volunteer Lawyers Project (MVLP) is seeking a full-time Executive Director/General Counsel.  MVLP was established in 1982 as a partnership between The Mississippi Bar and the Legal Services Corporation.  The mission of MVLP is to enable volunteer attorneys to provide equal access to justice for Mississippians of low-income and limited means through high quality pro bono legal assistance.  MVLP’s bylaws provide that the position of the Executive Director and General Counsel may be combined and held by a single person. The primary function of the Executive Director is to focus on fundraising and development, marketing, financial oversight, oversight of personnel and general administration.  The primary responsibilities and duties of the General Counsel are the oversight of all legal matters, including volunteer recruitment and retention. Applicants must be members of The Mississippi Bar in good standing or be members in good standing with the bar of another state with the intent to be licensed in Mississippi as soon as possible.  It is also preferred that candidates have management or supervisory experience, experience with family law matters and coordinating volunteers and a record of community involvement.  Send cover letter and résumé by September 19, 2014 to: John McCullouch, Chair, MVLP Board of Directors, P.O. Box 1503, Jackson, MS 39215-1503.
