A PLACE
This is where I went to school for the first time! In a tiny village at the time, 250 inhabitants or so, in the Champagne region. You see two buildings: on the right was the primary school, with 2 rooms, one for grades 0-2, and the 2nd for grades 3-5. On the right is the city hall on the first floor, and on the 2nd floor where the school teacher and his family lived.

AN EVENT
On September 2, most of French kids went back to school, amid the political turmoil surrounding the changed school attendance regulations. Strictly speaking, all French junior schools now work a five-day week, instead of having Wednesday off. A lot of people are unhappy about this: parents, teachers, opposition politicians and the mayors who have to pay people to mind the children when they're not in class.
