FIRST WORD from PASTOR CHIP STEVENS

This Sunday will definitely be different! Because of the relocation of the chiller that powers the air conditioning in the sanctuary, both morning worship services will be in the Outreach Center gym. The first service will be moved to 8:45 am and the second will be at 10:30 am. Because seating will be limited, we'd like some of you who normally come to the second service to try the first one. To simplify our schedule, we'll have no Sunday School for children-adults. Preschoolers will be in the Ray Building with their normal Sunday morning schedule while Children's Church will be offered in the OC Assembly Area during both morning services. This will certainly be different, but we believe it will be a good different! Thank you for your flexibility as we move forward to the new addition of the Children's Building Project.

We had another great night at the Song of Solomon study this past Sunday evening. This week our topic will "Divine Delight," as we'll look at the marriage and honeymoon of Solomon and his wife. This week, we'll start the evening with a special appearance by Nathan and Ashley Taylor you won't want to miss! Bring some friends and join us this Sunday evening at 5:00 pm in the OC!

Thank you for allowing us to be a part as we GATHER, GROW, GIVE, and GO together!

BSU Groundbreaking Ceremony
October 7 | 4:00 pm | Lot on the corner of East Lee Blvd. & Coliseum Blvd.

Sunday night, the Empty Nesters class joined with our university students to do a cookout at College Station Apartments. It was such a good, fun time! Among the residents at College Station are many of MSU's international students. Meeting students from China, Libya, Iran, Brazil, and other countries is a great reminder that we can impact the world right here in Starkville.

Pray for the relationships that were begun Sunday night. Pray that these friendships will grow, and these new friends will hear the good news of Jesus.

Worship in the Outreach Center
Sunday, September 28 | 8:45 & 10:30 am | Outreach Center Gym
Both Worship Services will move to the Outreach Center because of improvements to the A/C in the Sanctuary. To make it easier next Sunday morning there is NO Sunday School for Youth, University, and Adults. During both services, children will meet in the OC assembly area, and preschoolers will meet in the Ray building. Thank you for your continued patience during this time of transition.

New Foyer Construction

Because of the demo and renovation to the new commons area the Applegate Foyer entrance is not accessible. Be sure to use the Washington St. entrance in the Applegate building to access the main church office. Thanks for your patience during this transition.

Mississippi Baptists are very active in mission work all around the world. FBC Starkville is often made aware of personnel needs for trips sponsored by the Missions Mobilization department of the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board. Below is opportunity that need volunteers:

2015 Home School Conference

Bangkok, Thailand
February 18-28, 2015
Cost: $1500-1700
Deadline: October 1, 2014

The types of volunteers needed are teachers, home school parents, and men and women with various vocational skills such as construction, mechanics, health care and social service fields. Home school experience is needed for some positions but not required for all.

October is “Love Your Neighbor” Month

During the month of October, FBC is joining with you in showing love to your neighbors and to our Starkville community. Two events are lined up at our church to show love to the neighbors in our community.

Pumpkin Palooza: October 10 | 6:00-8:00 pm
This year, we are joining with our neighboring businesses on Main Street in our community-wide “Pumpkin Palooza.” We are opening our Outreach Center parking lots and encouraging our community to park for free at our facility. As our guests park, their children will be handed bags to take up to Main Street to collect their “loot in” as they visit local businesses. We will also have a tent and table in front of the Van Landingham Building where our guests can pick up bottled water or hot cocoa. Needed for this event: a few people to assist with parking, and several to “man” a table.

Light the Night: October 31
Location—Your House. This year, in lieu of Fall Festival, FBC is asking you to stay home on Halloween. That’s right! Stay home and meet your neighbors and minister to them. We are asking for 15-20 homes throughout Starkville to serve as “host homes” for Light the Night, and their responsibility is to simply hand out a flashlight along with their candy. (You can also put together a simple game in your front yard to facilitate some conversation with your neighbors.) Needed for this event: Homes of FBC members who are willing to serve as a host home handing out FBC Flashlights.
