The SWU community is encouraged to keep Kippen in your prayers as he awaits results of a PET scan. On Twitter, use the hashtag #getin4davis for updates and tweets. Kippen's story is also being told by the local media in his area. More>>

From across the state

Left: Neal Tallman (pictured) and Arcola Jones represented SWU during Family Day at Pruitt Healthcare in Columbia. This included Pruitt’s 200 employees and their families. It was a great back to school event with food, and games. Right: SWU adult students in Columbia came together and donated enough school supplies to fill four book bags. SWU donated these book bags to the Cooperative Ministries for their back to school supply drive for children in the Midlands. We are so proud of our Students in Columbia!
Left: SWU Charleston played host this past Thursday and Friday to the Charleston County School District’s SC Initial Mentor Training Classes for the 2014-2015 school year. Forty teachers who will be working with “Beginning Teachers” in the district are learning the skills it takes to be a mentor. E-book training

Faculty will be able to take advantage of e-book training Sept. 25 on SWU’s Central campus. Chavonne Primus and Danae Edmonds from VitalSource will conduct training on how to navigate the Bookshelf application.
Participants will learn to effectively use its features in both online and desktop platforms. Topics include searching, creating and sharing notes and highlights, managing highlighters, subscribing to another user’s notes and highlights, and using the text-to-speech feature. Those attending training should bring a laptop (if available) to actively engage with the session, though it’s not required. Bringing a laptop will allow you to mimic the steps she will demonstrate on e-books with your individual accounts.
