Fall Notes...

As the first brush of fall paints September colors over the trees and the geese congregate as they contemplate their southern migration... we reluctantly speculate on the upcoming seasons even as we reflect back our summer now slipping away. With any luck the fall will be wondrous and warm and the winter will be short lived... however, we are in Alberta and, having already tasted a frosting of late summer flakes, what are we really in for? Although we cannot accurately predict the weather, we can predict the Dream Write schedule - outlook for fall: busy. As I often discard the to do lists and the timelines that are made to keep me on a restrained track, I push ahead with worthy projects, consultations, meetings, and proposals that are signature Dream Write - dream driven and vision fulfilling.

Colouring Our Lives
by Karen Probert
This is the author's second collection of short stories, a selection of 15 fantastic fiction pieces sure to have you convinced they really happened. What color is the door to your story? This book follows Karen's first Dream Write published work, Fragments of Lives, launched in the fall of 2012. 
Ockleberries to the Rescue by Mandy Eve-Barnett with chapter header illustrations by Joe McKnight. This delightful book invites children into the world of the healer sprites and the woodland forest creatures who help them or need their help. The stories will enchant the young, and young at heart, as we follow Crispin and Tansy through their tales and adventures.
Gor Chronicles - Book 1 - Awakenings
by Mike Deregowski 
A YA Fantasy Adventure for those who love super powers and magic and strange little beings who talk. Bruce might seem like a normal 15-year-old but we soon find out he's destined for more. His quick wit and smart mouth will get him into trouble as each chapter takes him deeper into his dream reality. Great first novel.
Another wonderful book 
from children's author, Carol Maier - The Ubuntu Tree. This one is a storybook colouring book that brings to life the annual tree festival and a unique entry from the group, Grandmothers for Africa. Paul goes to the event with his grandmother and she shows him their award winning tree entry. Illustrations by Linda J. Pedley encourage children to colour as they learn about Africa and the plight of parentless children. The author is donating her portion of proceeds to the Steven Lewis Foundation.

The Word on the Street - Lethbridge
Dream Write Publishing will be in attendance at this nationally recognized event featuring books, magazines, and all things writing related. We will be in Tent #17 on Sunday, September 21st to sell books, talk publishing, and make new friends and connections. 
Alberta Culture Days
Dream Write Publishing will be participating in this event that celebrates all things culture in Alberta. In conjunction with the Arts & Culture Council of Strathcona County, we will have a display of our author's books, talk publishing, and have a display that shows the progression of an idea/manuscript to published form. Cool! Join us on Saturday, September 27th from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm in the Sherwood Park Community Centre. 
Words in the Park October 25th, 2014 - the call for submissions deadline to register to have a table is Friday, September 19th!!
BUT THAT'S NOT THE ONLY WAY TO PARTICIPATE... if you are not promoting your book with a table, please ensure you attend to encourage the rest of the authors. Buy books - get signed copies - listen to a scheduled reading - grab a coffee and visit with us! There are a number of authors already signed up for the 7th annual event to be held in the Sherwood Park Community Centre Agora. Yes! We've moved out of the hallways and into the amazing Agora due to popularity and response to the event. The event will be held in conjunction with Edmonton LitFest and features presentations, readings, and interactive displays throughout the morning and afternoon. BOOKS & AUTHORS:

 

  We have been fortunate and BUSY ...
our publishing projects for this fall continue to build the catalog we offer and the authors we represent. We usually feature a book here with one of our new authors but who do we choose? This month we are running a feature article on the new books already out because they are from authors already published with Dream Write. WE are honored to continue to work with them and continue to promote their work. Three of the books feature the work of three different artists contracted to our company to do illustrations and image design. We will have 5 more books in addition to the ones already listed here - including a new author releasing her book at Words in the Park and another new author releasing his book before Christmas featuring the creativity of a 4th new artist. As you can guess, we are already working our 2015 project schedule!!!
