Irish mum needs life–saving bone marrow transplant
A mother of two young children is searching for the ‘perfect match’ stem cell donor to enable her to have an essential bone marrow transplant. Nikki Braterman, 45, from Brighton, is desperately seeking people who share her ethnic background, Anglo–Burmese and Irish, or people with south Asian heritage, to volunteer as potential stem cell donors through their national registry. Mixed Race Irish have been formally invited to meet the Dáil Equality and Justice Committee.
Mixed Race Irish have now formally been invited to meet the Equality and Justice Committee in the Dáil in October. They will now be able to present their campaign on behalf of those who were in Institutional care and suffered as a result of the colour of their skin.

Is the current wave of Irish migration receding?
The Irish Times has reported that the current wave of emigration from Ireland is slowing down, with the number of Irish people emigrating falling by 20% on last years figures. CSO figures show that the number of Irish leaving in the year to April 2014 was 40,700 compared to 50,900 in the same period in 2012/13. Read more...

Obtaining funding in this current climate is proving challenging for any voluntary organisation, so it is wise to look at as many different avenues as possible. There’s a big pool of funding available to organisations from the European Union (EU).
EU funding is a source that can often be overlooked, often being seen as an overly bureaucratic protracted process, which could potentially waste time and resources. But with the right amount of time and planning devoted to the process, it could work out as an invaluable source of funding.
