Chorioamnionitis

Also known as "intra-amniotic infection", it is a bacterial infection of fetal amnion and chorion membranes. It should be suspected in pregnancy with intra-partum fever and requires polymicrobial coverage and delivery.

Known as the "African Eye Worm". The life span is variable but can last up to 17 years in subcutaneous tissue. The main risk factor is living or traveling to western and central Africa. The infection is generally noticed when the patient sees a white worm migrating through the subconjuctiva or sclera of their eye. DES is the only treatment that is definitively curative killing both larvae and adult worms

A parasitic infection caused by larval stage of Taenia solium (pork tapeworm). The disease is divided into extraneural cysticercosis and neurocysticercosis. Differentials should include brain abscess, vasculitis, tuberculomas or mycotic granulomas, primary or metastatic disease.
