Homecoming and Pink Week festivities underway
Stevens Point Mayor Andrew Halverson dedicated Fourth Avenue as Pink Street on Sunday to mark Pink Week and the upcoming Pink Game for the UW-Stevens Point football team. The event was followed by a cancer survivor walk and a Homecoming Super Run 5K run/walk to kick off Homecoming Week, which is themed “Rise of the Pointers: 120 Years of Heroes.” The annual Pink Game, at 2 p.m. Saturday against North Central, raises money for cancer charities including the Joanne A. Suomi Memorial Fund, the Circle of Friends Foundation and the Breast Cancer Family Foundation. Alumni Events | Student Events

Suomi Family Aquatics Classroom Dedication
Smiles, laughs, hugs and tears were shared as the Suomi Family Aquatics Classroom was dedicated at UW-Stevens Point Sept. 12. The classroom, located in the Health Enhancement Center pool, was made possible thanks to a gift from Professor of Physical Education Rory Suomi and his wife Joanne, who died Sept. 3. Professor plans Wisconsin Hmong Conference
Maysee Herr was born in a Thailand refugee camp and moved to the United States with her family when she was 3 months old. This week, the School of Education assistant professor welcomes attendees as the chairwoman of the Wisconsin Hmong Conference with the theme of "The health and well-being of the Hmong community" at the Holiday Inn. Gary Glascoe Scholarship Campaign
An anonymous donor pledged $10,000 to the Gary Glascoe Scholarship Fund. This scholarship will be awarded to a UWSP graduate student in the Doctor of Audiology program. Seventeen students from UWSP's Historic Preservation Student Society (HPSS) explored historic buildings, participated in tours and discovered architectural heritage during the “Open Doors Milwaukee” event Sept. 20.
