September Enrichment Classes THIS WEEK:  September 23-26

Remember:  Enrichment Classes replace the private lesson for the week.  If you are unsure of which group class to attend, please click here for the Enrichment Schedule.
Our 2014-2015 theme of an e.p.i.c. musical journey includes games and activities that involve singing and solfege. Solfege is an approach to learning music that uses the following syllables, do-re-mi-fa-sol-la-ti-do. This is an incredible skill with great benefits for students taking private music lessons. Solfege enables students to recognize patterns easily and ultimately improves music reading.  Singing and using solfege also helps develop audiation, which is the ability to mentally hear music. An example of this would be getting a song stuck in your head. A student who can audiate looks at music on the page and hears how it will sound before they play it. This is a fantastic talent to develop - no more practicing the wrong notes! We are confident that singing and solfege will help students internalize the music they are making.

Make-Up Policy Reminder
Prompt attendance is expected in order to establish routine and maximize investment in the personal attention of private lessons.  If you wish to cancel a lesson, please call 419-419-3355 before the day of the lesson.  There will be no refunds given for missed lessons.  Failure to attend scheduled lessons without notice will forfeit that week’s lesson.  However, with advance notice, each student will be permitted two make-up lessons throughout the year. These are preferably limited to illness and family emergencies.  Every effort will be made to adjust lesson times for those conflicting with a band, orchestra, or choir concert at school, when notified at least two weeks prior to the concert.
