The Launch Week opening sessions of Connected Educator Month in NZ kick off on 1 October, with global events beginning shortly after. The three days’ sessions feature a terrific lineup of thought leaders and influencers, including panels covering each of the key themes for the month.

Come along to ask your questions, mingle with other connected educators – be part of this exciting new event!

Registration is not required, but you can sign up for all of them here, you'll receive a reminder the day before each event, and a link to archives afterwards, in case you can’t attend an event.

Join a book group - and win!

Be part of a network of edu-bookworms this October with the NZ Connected Educators Book Groups. We are delighted to offer two books this year: NZCER’s Key Competencies for the Future (from 3rd October) and Ewan McIntosh’s How to come up with great ideas and actually make them happen (from 21st October).

The book groups are a fantastic opportunity to join others across NZ and beyond to explore topical education ideas, then discuss them with your peers and the authors, through self-paced conversation (when you join the Virtual Learning Network Connected Educator Group) and two real-time webinar discussions in Adobe Connect.

Enter the competition! Join one of the book groups and you’ll go in the draw to win a copy of your chosen book for yourself too! (Competition closes 25 September)

Let the authors share insights and push your thinking.

Whatever your professional learning focus or inquiry, there’ll be events for you. Hundreds of events have now been pledged to the global calendar, with New Zealand-Aotearoa organisations playing a major role in growing the programme.

Brew a coffee and spend some time browsing the events. Choose those that will be of most use to you and your teams, as well as ones that spark your interest. Events can be added to your own calendar tools so you don’t miss a thing.

Get connected

With only a week to go, there are a few ‘must do’ things that participants should do so tell your teams and colleagues to jump in to the activities below:

Pond now available to all schools

As the start of Connected Educator Month draws closer Pond has been made available to all educators working in NZ schools. If you’re a teacher who has been waiting for an opportunity to get into Pond all you need now is an Education Sector Logon with the Pond entitlement applied - perfect timing for those who want to connect with fellow educators and really get the most out of CEM!

If you have access to e-asTTle, you should be able to jump straight into Pond. If you’re unsure what entitlement you have or you need to set up a new Education Sector Logon account, please contact the Ministry of Education Service Desk by calling 0800 422 599 (Option 3) or emailing moe.servicedesk@minedu.govt.nz.

You don’t have to wait for Connected Educator Month to start though, as soon as you’ve got your Education Sector Logon sorted you can jump in - happy splashing Pondies!
