                  Schooner Showroom, Casino NS

We are excited to introduce you to four more of our racers for the upcoming Project Lobster dinner!

By participating, these racers have a blast while helping to raise money for our charitable partner, Prostate Cancer Canada - Atlantic. They are tried from knees to ankles and they can use just the tips of their feet and their arms to get themselves down the forty-foot track (lobster-style), as they relay race in teams of three. This event introduces our Core Energy Conference delegates to the Maritimes Energy Association's members in a relaxed and casual setting which also includes a delicious dinner and fantastic live entertainment by The Modern Grass.

Don't miss out on this great event. It's a fun way to meet and get to know some of the other Core Energy delegates before the Conference starts! Click here to register now.

Racers:

Steve Sayle, SayleGROUP Inc.

Steve’s natural team building and leadership skills have resulted in a progressive career in the international energy sector. Steve thrives on networking, facilitation and collaboration – a few of the main reasons he ran for the Board of Directors of The Maritimes Energy Association. He grew up in PEI where he still has strong ties, and has spent the majority of his Oil & Gas career evenly split between Nova Scotia and Overseas (Middle East, Europe, Asia & Africa). Steve is a graduate of Dalhousie University, with a Masters in Marine Management, and is a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) specializing in developing world class Quality, Health, Safety & Environment Management Systems (QHSEMS).

Steve has an extensive background in Canadian and International consulting, business development, construction projects and offshore oil&gas exploration, development and operations. He has been a key advisor for R&D studies, coastal developments, stakeholder consultation, building and commissioning of offshore platforms, exploration drilling, subsea pipelines, and processing facilities. Steve is an ongoing member of the “post-Macondo” Subsea Well Response Project Advisory Forum (for which he presented as a special Nominee at the 2013 Suncor Presidents Operational Excellence Award Gala).

Steve has a real passion for business development and promotion of the energy industry in Atlantic Canada. He has an extensive oil & gas network in Atlantic Canada, Alberta, Gulf of Mexico, North Sea and Middle East.

Shaun Lafferty, AMEC Black & McDonald

The official story is that Shaun Lafferty was born and raised in Moncton, New Brunswick. The legend is that Shaun “Lobster” Lafferty was actually raised by the World’s Largest Lobster in Shediac, New Brunswick.

As a boy lobster, he swam the depths of Shediac Bay every day in preparation for the great lobster race that he was destined for.

As a man, he spends his days working as the Process Engineering Lead at AMEC Black & McDonald. His nights are spent with his great wife, Julie, and his two wonderful kids, Jack and Mia. When he’s not working, growing large mustaches to raise money for Prostate Cancer Research, or at home with his family, he is training and developing super-human/lobster strength to dominate lobster races across the land.

As a member of last year’s winning team, Shaun echoes the following warning to his fellow contestants “Eat my silt!”

Dale Fougere, AMEC Black & McDonald

When Dale was first asked to join "Project Lobster" by AMEC Black & McDonald team captain, Shaun Lafferty, he thought it was some lobster eating competition and said, "I hate lobster...no way!".

Once Dale was assured that no lobster eating was required to participate and that this was actually an event to raise funds for Prostate Cancer Canada - Atlantic, he quickly joined the team. Mission accepted. Dale was raised in Cape Breton and studied Mechanical Engineering at Dalhousie University. Since his exile from Cape Breton seven years ago for disliking lobster, he has been a part of the AMEC Black & McDonald team as a project engineer.

Dale now resides in Middle Sackville with his partner Kim, and about 20 of her pets. Seriously, they could open a zoo in the house. He enjoys spending time with friends and family, going for drives, listening to music, and catching up on current events. Dale and Kim plan to own a homestead in the country and someday, achieve food and energy independence.

Dale was part of the winning AMEC Black & McDonald team in 2013 and is eager to defend his team’s title! Look out on October 7th!

Chris Cannon, David Aplin Group

Chris was born in Plymouth, England but after only two years immigrated to Halifax with his family and has been living here ever since. Although not British in accent - his love of soccer is entirely British. He began playing soccer at a very early age and it has dominated his life ever since.

After 3 National Championship Tournaments with his local soccer club and Saint Mary's University, he has now pledged his allegiances to the Men's B league team "Halifax Pumas", of which he is co-founder. In his professional life Chris spent 4 years working as an Account Manager with the Metro Halifax Newspaper and has now found his new home with the wonderful David Aplin team here in Halifax as a Consultant within the Engineering, Technical, Supply Chain and Operations world.

Chris and his wife Courtney are the proud new parents of their 5 month old son Luke who never seems to stop growing! Chris has known friends and family who have battled Prostate Cancer and is grateful for any and all donations.
