Letter from the Editor |
In the Steve Martin comedy The Jerk, Navin’s old boss says to him “See the world. Me you’ve seen already.” I’d like to apply such sage wisdom to the 2015 Massachusetts Broadcasters Association budget.
While we have added a slew of great new programs in the last four years – Paid Internship Program, Sound Bites, Continuing Education Reimbursement, P1+ Live Assist sales training and Families in Broadcasting scholarships, we are always looking to add the next great program to help make our members’ work lives just a bit easier. So we invite your feedback. Is there a program that you’ve been hoping to take part in? A speaker that you’ve been dying to see? Let us know! Tweet, email, call, send us a carrier pigeon, smoke signals (you get the idea) and we’ll check it out.
Thanks in advance and we’ll see you at Sound Bites on October 29th! |

Broadcasters Work to Preserve Retrans |
Following efforts from television broadcasters across the country, “Local Choice”, along with other potentially harmful amendments to the Satellite Television Access and Viewer Rights Act (STAVRA) were removed or modified during a Senate Commerce Committee mark up session on September 17th.
The bill, largely thought to be “must pass” legislation for satellite providers that allows satellite pay subscribers to import distant broadcast signals, included a “Local Choice” amendment that would have caused broadcasters to be a la carte option for viewers starting in 2017. READ MORE >> |
