Curriculum Enhancement
The PTSA Curriculum Enhancement team is busy organizing experiences that extended the learning through offsite and classroom field trip experiences, performers and speakers.
Upcoming CE Events
Tue Oct 14- Kindergarteners will travel to Remlinger Farms to visit with farm animals and experience the Fall harvest season.
Fri Oct 24- 1st graders travel to Fox Hollow Farm for pumpkin picking and a visit with the animals.


Highlights from recent events
Kevin Gard, author of ' Oh Sully' , a charming book on bullying, visited with the 2nd and 3rd graders on Friday, September 25th.  After reading his book, he went through his writing process and showed some of his original illustrations. The students were treated to a sneak peak of his second book still in progress. He ended the talk with  questions from the students.
 
Walking on Sunshine Walkathon is This FRIDAY!
 
The walkathon is a fun PTSA sponsored event and  our main Fall fund raiser. Remember to collect pledges and submit your pledge sheet by Wednesday, October 1st, to be eligible for prizes!  Even if you donate online, send your completed pledge sheet in to help your class qualify for prizes!   Make your pledge online  at the store

**UPDATE** The Superbowl winning Seattle Seahawks have donated a ball signed by Max Unger The grand prize winner with the most pledge total will get to choose between the signed ball and the $100 Toys R Us gift card.  The student that raises the next highest amount for Spiritridge will get the other prize!!  Keep those pledges coming!

Thursday is Curriculum Night
Curriculum Night is an opportunity for you to hear from your child's teacher about classroom expectations, academic focus and curriculum content for the year. This is also an opportunity for you to learn about volunteer opportunities in the classroom, and chat with the principals. It is an informational night for parents.
Grades 4 & 5  5:30-6:30
Welcome and introductions with the Principals in the MPR, 5:30-5:50. Classroom with teachers 5:55-6:30
Grades 1-3   7:00-8:00
Welcome and introductions with the Principals in the MPR, 7:00-7:20 Classroom with teachers 7:25-8:00

 
PTSA  Membership
We're striving for 100% parent participation in the Spiritridge PTSA. That means we need 600 members, and just a few weeks into the year, we're 62% there.

 
Membership fees, as well as all PTSA fundraising efforts, benefit your child's education at Spiritridge Elementary.

The Spiritridge Yearbook is a timeless keepsake for your student.  New this year, 4 different packages and A la Carte Options!  Samples of the extra content will be available at Curriculum Night. Orders can be placed online at ybpay.lifetouch.com   Yearbook ID Code:  3043515.  Or pick up your Yearbook order form at school.   
Reflections

The Reflections program is a National PTA and WSPTA cultural arts competition. The purpose is to provide an opportunity for all students to use their creative talents by expressing themselves through their own original works. We have an art show at school Nov 4th with the Book Fair .Winners at this school level will have their work forwarded to a competition among students from the Bellevue School District, with another show at the Crossroads Mall.

 This year's theme is: "The world would be a better place if..."

Submit an entry in any of the six art areas by October 24th
Visual Arts, Literature, Music Composition, Photography - Film/Video, Dance/Choreography

Pumpkin & a Poem October 24th
Please join us from 6-8pm on Friday, 10/24, for our annual PTSA sponsored "Pumpkin and A Poem" event!  Bring your own pumpkins (gutted at home strongly preferred), carving tools, and a dessert, fruit, or snack to share, and have fun carving pumpkins with friends, while meeting other Spiritridge families.  Students are encouraged to read or sing either known Halloween poems or songs or their own original Halloween poems or songs (optional).   Come join the fun on 10/24!  An adult must stay with the kids, this is not a drop-off event.

Spiritwear on Sale at Curriculum Night 
Each Friday is Spirit day at Spirtridge, everyone is encouraged to wear Spiritridge shirts or school colors of royal and blue.  To show your school spirit pick-up the latest styles of on sale in the front hall during curriculum night. (Cash or Check). Cant make it? Print an order form and send in your payment with  your student.

If you placed an order for blue Tshirts at the BBQ or since, the size small is in an will be delivered to class rooms this week. Size Medium have still not come in.
 
 

Tillicum Middle School Rebuild Meeting
The Tillicum Middle School building will be replaced with a new facility that will better meet 21st century educational needs, program requirements, safety standards and energy goals.

Construction will begin summer of 2016 and be complete by the summer of 2018.  Students will remain in the current building through the 2015-16 school year then move to the Ringdall School location during construction. Students return to a new building for  2018 school year.

The design committee looks forward to sharing the progress of the planning with the community.

Box Top Collections Underway
Continue to collect box tops and soup labels for  our  classroom competition and raise funds for Spiritridge. The class with the most box tops and labels by October 27 will win a reward!

Cub Scouts Pack 673 is Welcoming new Spiritridge members
Join the adventure of Cub Scouts. All boys in 1st -5th grade and their parents are welcome to attend

Gymnastics Camp on BSD No-School Day Oct 10th
Who: Girls and boys grades K-6 who are interested in gymnastics! Groups will be divided by age and skill level.
What: Gymnastics Camp. Instruction on gymnastics events (vault, bars, beam, floor) plus conditioning and fun activities.
When: Friday, October 10th, 9:00am to 12:00pm.
