The Liberal-National Government has left WA taxpayers exposed to millions of dollars in potential losses after a failed $30million foray into property speculation in Karratha.

Last week WA Labor aired details of Royalties for Regions money being used to buy 50 luxury units in the Pelago East tower. Most of the apartments sit empty and the government still can't sell them.

Close links emerged between the private companies behind the development and the Liberal and National parties.

The Barnett Government has been reckless with taxpayers' money and now we've been left with the ludicrous situation of empty luxury units that no one wants to buy.

Today in Parliament we will be debating these issues further and calling on the government to establish a Special Inquiry under Section 24H of the Public Sector Management Act, to get to the bottom of this murky development.

There are simply too many unanswered questions around this whole affair. If the Barnett Government wants to be open, accountable and transparent, it should agree to this inquiry.
