A  young girl in Inverness has attracted the attention of the national media after becoming the first child in the UK to have a prosthetic hand made with 3D printing technology.The parents of five year old Hayley Fraser sought help from US-based E-nable,a network of volunteers who design and make prosthetics mainly for children

Students get up-close and personal with diabetes

The first LifeScan Scotland STEMinar of the new programme on cell biology took place at Dingwall Academy. Students were given an introduction to LifeScan Scotland and diabetes. 

LifeScan Scotland is alsoi working five other secondary schools: Alness, Dingwall, Invergordon Academy, Inverness High School, Milburn Academy and Tain Royal Academy.

GlycoMar, lands a share of £700k funding from IBioIC, the Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Centre

Their project will use a microalga, a single-celled species found in sea water, to produce an active ingredient for the, cosmetic sector. If successful, it will deliver the first example of new high value product from UK marine biotechnology, using microalgae for sustainable production.
