Latest news: October 2014
October is the month when the grasses really come into their own.
Miscanthus
Many of the Miscanthus have been in flower for a while but 'Red Chief', 'Blutenwunder' and 'Gnome' are some of the ones looking really good now. Come to the nursery and have a look at them!
Molinia
A couple of weeks ago I took my National Plant Collection® of Molinia to the Norfolk Plant Heritage Autumn Gala, where I was able to show 15 varieties in full flower. Now the foliage is colouring up, and I realise it is almost a year since we went to admire Molinia 'Poul Petersen' in the Piet Oudolf designed garden at Scampston Hall, North Yorkshire.
Panicum
These prairie grasses from north America look great with the Asters in flower now and P. amarum 'Dewey Blue' has lovely powdery grey-blue foliage and flowers that make a lovely match with
Aster 'Little Carlow'.
