Watch over your children, O Lord, as their days increase. Bless them and guide them wherever they may be. Strengthen them where they stand. Comfort them when discouraged or lonely. A Deacon exchange!
For the last two Sundays of September, our Deacon Marcus Crim will be visiting Trinity+St. Peter's Episcopal Church to serve as Deacon and share his ministry passions, while the Rev. Susan Napoliello from Trinity+St. Peter's will be visiting with us.
It's a marvelous opportunity, supported by Bishop Marc and Archdeacon, the Ven. Brian Barnes, for the deacons in S.F. to share their gifts and gain experience.   We look forward to welcoming Susan on Sunday, Sept. 20.

From the Vicar:
Two new on-going worship opportunities for this fall for you to consider attending: Taizé on the Second Friday of each month at 7:30pm, and Choral Evensong on the fourth Sunday of each month at 5pm.

The service of Evensong first came into being in England in the mid 16th century. Archbishop Thomas Cranmer was responsible for the first Book of Common Prayer of 1549, and among many other orders for services, he created Evensong by combining elements of the monastic evening services of Vespers and Compline, and translating them from Latin to English.

Consisting of hymns, canticles, psalms and prayers, Evensong immediately became a beloved musical experience that composers immediately began writing for. We hope that this will become a once-a-month worship opportunity that you will find nourishing at Holy Innocents.

"Taize is an ecumenical sung and silent participatory prayer service designed to achieve a contemplative state through music, song and silence."
Since November of last year, a number of us have been offering a  thirty minuteTaizé service on Wednesdays, at 5:30pm before the potluck.  While it has been lovely for those of us able to be there, it has also been clear that that time slot is really hard for many.  Beginning Friday, October 10, we will be offering this tranquil and meditative service, once a month,  7:30-8:15pm.  We hope you will consider joining us.
If you are a singer or an instrumentalist and would like to be part of the choir or band for either Evensong or Taize, please let Vicar Jane or Music Director, Bill Keck know.

Please pardon our appearance!
If you wonder about the paint splashed carpet and the half-finished bathrooms - we're in the middle of a Spruce-Up.  The job will be completed over the next couple of weeks.
Many thanks to Senior Warden Stephen Walker and his willing teams!
