Lesson 401: My Shepherd Will Supply My Need
Our priorities change as a result of trials. I become less focused about providing for myself, and I learn to be concerned about the same things as Christ, including other people.
I trust that my Shepherd will supply my need, because He promised, and He is responsible for doing that job.
John 10:11,27-28 Jesus said “I am the good shepherd… My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.”
Gal.6:2 Bear one another's burdens.
Col.3:12-15; Acts 20:35; Rom.12:15
Phil.2:4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.
Phil.4:19 my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
We begin to love others because Christ does, even when there’s nothing “in it” for us.
Once we experience hard times (financial, physical or emotional), our hearts will be moved to encourage others facing similar situations.
Not only do we sympathize with those who suffer, we are qualified to say “I know something about what you are going through. I survived, and I would like to share with you the source of my strength.”
They will see that we genuinely care. By suffering as Christ did, we learn to love as He did.
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
