Storm damage update

Successful funding bid: We've recently received the great news that the South West Coast Path will receive £1 million from the Coastal Communities Fund. This project will repair, improve and promote the South West Coast Path (SWCP). Funds will help with 32 urgent repair works to the path, information boards and signage, and marketing. This will create and safeguard around 788 jobs from construction, management and tourism generated by the path. In August Penny Mordaunt MP visited the site where one of these projects will be completed at Thurlestone, South Devon.

Stretch Summer out

This week and into the weekend the MET Office tells us we have another spell of fine, settled and warm weather across the South West. There's still time for a full day of walking at this time of year!

Join us from this Saturday 20th, until the 28th September, for the Great South West Walks Charity Fundraiser. 100 especially selected walks across Dorset, Exmoor, Devon and Cornwall to raise funds for path improvements and our charity partner Children's Hospice South West.

As the autumn continues, come and walk the Coast Path in your spare time. A walk complete with pub lunch is hard to beat. If you explore further over a weekend or longer consider our short break ideas.

Happy Walking!

Treasure on the path

Go Geocaching: This summer you may have unknowingly walked passed treasure! Geocaching is an exciting outdoor adventure that can add to a day out walking with family and friends. You search for a 'geocache' using clues and once you've found one you may find some booty inside - like these National Trail geocoins. Go on give it a try! Look at our 'geocaching' page for more details.

Recent re-openings include a section from Dawlish to Teignmouth at Holcombe thanks to Network Rail and a temporary bridge at Hope Cove thanks to Devon County Council both in South Devon. See our route changes page for more information.
