We make it our business to be like a good neighbor, helping to build safer, stronger and better educated communities across the United States and Canada. Through our company grants, we focus on two areas: safety and education.
The awards program recognizes educators at the elementary, junior high school, high school, and college levels for innovative and effective techniques in teaching entrepreneurship and the free enterprise education. Up to twenty cash awards are made annually valued at $7,500 each. One meritorious award of $15,000 may be made for an outstanding entry. To date, the program has recognized nearly 500 teachers from across the country and awarded over $3 million.
This grant supports classroom teachers who undertake action research inquiries about literacy and instruction. Grants will be awarded up to US$4,000, although priority will be given to smaller grants (e.g., $1,000 to $2,000) in order to provide support for as many teacher researchers as possible.

Workshop Description:
Social media is often ignored as a platform for raising engagement with our stakeholders in favor of more traditional methods. In todays day and age, it’s critical to understand how you can leverage social media to connect with your audience and program participants. Burhan Syed will explore the basics of connecting to audiences using social media, how to utilize social media as a way to not only promote but also to measure engagement. From hashtags to ads, Burhan will help you understand what tools you can leverage to help you answer the question “How can I drive interest in my programs and stay in touch with the people who matter?"
Biography of Burhan Syed:
Burhan Syed is a Program Manager at Facebook Inc., and moved to the United States from Canada in 2012 with his wife and 5 children. His move to Facebook came after a 15 year career in leading and managing large technology projects in both the education and telecom sectors, and in addition to working on large infrastructure projects at Facebook, he also works on community projects including providing free wifi to residents in impoverished neighborhoods in North Carolina. In addition to his work at Facebook, Burhan enjoys improvisational acting and spends his weekends creating art using a laser cutter at a local wood shop.
