Well done, Mitchell!
Congratulations to Mitchell Peterson of Sisters, OR who soloed at Redmond Airport (KRDM) on August 1, 2014! Mitchell wanted an airplane in which he could learn to fly, and chose the RV-12 S-LSA as the best combination of performance and price, along with the reputation of Van’s and 100% US construction. He says he is enjoying the plane immensely and has now put nearly 40 hours on it. When he’s passed his checkride he and his wife plan to make regular visits to their home on the Oregon coast. The RV-12 will cut their travel time from 4+ hours in the car to 2 hours in the plane.

Kaitlyn Tepe was part of the program long before the first certified plane rolled off the line, and chances are you’ve spoken with her if you’ve ever called about the factory-built RV-12. Van's Names New Service Center
Van’s Aircraft has recognized US Sport Planes of Denton, Texas to provide Factory Authorized service for the RV-12 S-LSA. Servicing most major LSA aircraft, US Sport Planes has been a Rotax Service Center for several years and have over 20 A&P mechanics on staff. RV-12 owners can expect routine services such as oil changes, conditional inspections and major structural repairs. US Sport Planes is also a Dynon installation and service center. Behind The Scenes at the Factory
This month, we’ll take a quick look at RV-12 engine installation with our Rotax-trained A&P, Alan Nelson. “The typical engine installation takes anywhere from 4 to 8 hours. The low weight of the Rotax aids the speed and precision of installations, and we’ve made it a very efficient process through the use of checklists, hoist and custom engine stands. Attention to detail is everything - we strive for “Swiss-watch precision” and use strict quality control measures to ensure the engine is ready to fly. There’s also plenty of help - over half of our employees have completed official Rotax training.”

Flight Data Request
Van’s Aircraft has teamed up with multiple universities on research projects related to the RV‐12. We are looking for flight data from customers, for as many flights as you’re willing to send. The more data we have, the more accurate we can be with our research projects. Van’s will keep all data confidential and is not concerned with which aircraft generated the data.
