September 2014
Hello <<First Name>>
This month it has been ‘raining men’, as the song goes. Plumbers, electricians, stone masons, concreters, joiners, digger drivers, demolition men, roofers, general outdoor workers/handypersons and some more whose classification I’m not sure of. Despite all this activity, not to mention the dust, muck, mud and sawdust, we still haven’t been able to get started on my long-awaited ‘shed’.
As with many large projects, there is inevitably slippage with hoped-for time scales. What I’m saying to my faithful and patient followers is ‘don’t hold your breath’! On the plus side, I have become so tolerant and laidback about it all that my blood pressure has returned to normal and I’m enjoying the gorgeous views from our new house.
All the best,

Nursing Home Treasures
My workload this month has included lots of nursing home visits to inspirational 90+ year-olds - feisty women with a treasure trove of oral history.
Next time you see an elderly person in the final phases of life, try to remember they weren’t always like that. Many have had illustrious careers. Get them talking about the past and I promise you'll be enthralled!
