Asheville Inclusive Arts Meeting
After our visit to the Asheville area last year there have been continued efforts to keep the group of inclusive arts supporters together and actively meeting. Below is a letter from the organizers of an upcoming meeting:
This is an invitation to meet, discuss, and brainstorm about how the Asheville arts community can become accessible to and inclusive of artists with disabilities, benefitting all of us.
When: Thursday, October 16, 2014, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Where: Asheville Area Arts Council’s new space:
inside the Grove Arcade, near the Page Ave. entrance
Suites 144 and 143A
Parking: Street parking is free after 6. Nearest public parking is the Wall St. Parking Garage. Please let me know if you need transportation or any other accommodations.
Light refreshments
Our goal is a core group representing performance artists, visual artists, arts educators, and advocates will be able to meet quarterly, come up with ideas for inclusive arts events and help make them happen, and provide input for a comprehensive ADA plan for the Asheville Arts Council.

NC-APVI Seventh Annual Pumpkins and Prizes Party

Join us and many other organizations and families at the Governor Morehead School's Campus on Saturday, October 4, 11am-1pm.
Enjoy a fun-filled day of activities, sponsored by local community groups, available for children of all ages & abilities! Come learn more about the community groups that provide services and resources for children with visual impairments while decorating pumpkins and socializing!
Costumes welcomed but not required!
Refreshments provided!
This is a great opportunity to volunteer with Arts Access! We will plan a fun event and involve volunteers to run the table and communicate with attendees. Contact Brandon if you're interested in lending a hand!

| access SPARKcon
Arts Access staff and board had a great time at SPARKcon 2014! We provided accessibility tips for attendees. We engaged many people with and without disabiltities pointing out different features about the many events SPARKcon has to offer.
 We invite anyone to give feedback, please email comments to Arts Access Staff. With all the traffic downtown gets during the summer/fall, accessibility is important!
If you need help accessing a downtown festival or want accessibility to be addressed for your downtown event, contact Arts Access.
