A New Season 
A Fresh Directive

Dear <<First Name>>,

I will be the first to admit that it has been FOREVER since I've communicated with you. The last newsletter was sent at the beginning of July. Let me bring you up to date.

Here's what has happened in the last 2 1/2 months ...
In the last newsletter, I announced that after 25 years of being Trinity Church International's children's pastors, Vickie and I had resigned so that we could pursue full time a directive of the Holy Spirit. We stated that it is time to devote our lives to igniting a fire of the Holy Spirit both nationally and internationally in children/youth workers through our Ignite the Supernatural Conferences and preach in churches about the Person and work of the Holy Spirit. We knew that now is the time to launch out and travel. Now is the time to write the books and publish the curriculums. 

In July, we sold our Florida home, packed up 23 years of things accumulated while living in our home (what a gigantic job!), bought a home and moved to North Richland Hills, Texas (the northeast part of Fort Worth), set up the home, and then took some time off to work through this transition.

Here's what is happening right now ...
In addition to traveling and ministering on a few weekends throughout the remainder of this year, Vickie and I are preparing for this new season. I'm beginning to write. We're studying. We will launch full force in January 2015.

What is in our future ...
There are some things that I don't know. But this one thing is for sure ... we are in for the ride of our lives. I know that we are obeying a directive. We've clearly heard the Holy Spirit say, "The nation is waiting on you. The nations (plural) are waiting." We've heard God's directive to travel and be a part of one last outpouring of His Spirit, we are sure of His timing, and now we are obeying and stepping out in obedience.

A Major Burns Update!


Vickie and I are so excited. I couldn't send out a newsletter without telling about the birth of our beautiful granddaughter. On July 13th, our oldest son Jason and his wife Elisabeth became the proud parents of Ella Elisabeth. I know that I might be a tiny bit biased in my opinion but I honestly believe that Ella is the most beautiful baby girl in the whole wide world.

My email box constantly receives promotional materials for the “how-to’s” of ministry … how to grow a church, shut the back door, gain more volunteers, keep visitors, discover the “WOW” factor, increase the finances, etc. Enough already. Working Together With You

We know that any plan initiated by God requires people to connect and work together. The task will always be more than what one person can accomplish alone. So, Vickie and I are asking that you partner together with us. Here's how ...

In Prayer 
First, Vickie and I need you to join with us in prayer. This is critical. You may not be with us physically in our conferences and services, but your consistent, fervent praying will cause much to happen!!!

In Finances
We need your help in two areas:
  1. Immediate giving. God beautifully provided the ability to make the move to Texas. Every expense of moving was supplied. Now, we need people to help with the expenses of setting up our ministry office (furniture, computers, copier, printers, etc.) is in the neighborhood of $3,000. There might be a business that would single-handedly make this happen. 
  2. On-going giving. In a day where few churches invite evangelists and those that do have guest speakers only invite them for one service, few evangelists exist. Because of limited or no services, most evangelists have quit traveling. It's just impossible for them to survive financially from one service a week. But, we've heard God’s directive. We need individuals, churches, and businesses that know and believe in us to monthly enable us to keep on keeping on. 
How can you give? By simply going to the donate page on our web site, you can securely give a one-time offering or set it up to safely give on a weekly or monthly basis to enable us to step into this new season of ministry. We know that you believe in us, know our passion, and want to help ignite a Holy Spirit fire around the world. Thank you in advance. 
I recognize that many people can't go out of town to attend a conference and so we want to bring a Ignite & Unite Conference to them. This 3-hour, Saturday morning mini-conference is held at your church for your nursery, children's church, Sunday school, mid-week Bible club, and youth ministry leaders and volunteers. It's designed to ignite a work of the Holy Spirit in your team and build a solid, unified purpose in ministry. Then, we will minister to the church body on Sunday.

Here is what is covered in the conference: The Dangers of the Status Quo, The Holy Spirit on Assignment, The 10 Commandments of the Supernatural, and The Anointing.
