President's Updates

Dear TACL Member:

Welcome to TACL 2014-2015!  We have a new Board that is ready to serve you – our Taiwanese American community – as we continue to strengthen and connect our community across the nation.  This will be an exciting year as we gear up to celebrate TACL’s 30th Anniversary.

First though, a big thank you to the previous Board members for their tireless dedication this past year; we couldn’t have done it without them: Andy Ni, Barry Huang, Bob Wu, Kelly Shih and Teddy Liaw. Check out Bob's 5 lessons that he learned as President here: Bob's Farewell Letter.

Now, let’s take a look at some of the initiatives this year and remember our 2015 motto: Passion, Camaraderie and FUN!

Best,

Jacqui Wu
TACL National President

Social Media Contest

As we move into Fall, change is in the air.  Some people are going back to school, others are possibly moving into new roles.  Either way, there’s a lot going on with the holiday season ahead.  Follow TACL and your local TAP chapters to see what’s going in the Taiwanese American community.  We’ll be posting what we find and if you think there’s something we should be sharing, tweet us!

Keep your eyes out on the TACL Facebook Page, twitter (@taclorg) and instagram (@taclorg).  We’ll be announcing a social media contest soon, so stay tuned for some hashtagging fun!

National Convention Recap

When TAP-DC stepped up to host the 2014 national convention, they challenged themselves to put on a convention like no other before it.  Check out the recap and movie to see if they a) met the challenge, b) survived the experience, and c) what they managed to accomplish and what everyone learned.

TAP Across the US

Taiwanese American Professionals (TAP) is TACL's premiere program that connects and networks young TA professionals across major U.S. cities through cultural, social, professional, and community service events. TACL would like to welcome Seattle as the newest TAP chapter and Austin as the newest provisional chapter!

This brings our network to 7 total chapters (Boston, DC, Los Angeles, New York, San Diego, San Francisco, and Seattle) and 2 provisional chapters (Atlanta and Austin).

Check out our TAP chapters below!

Taiwan: The Great(est) Outdoors

For those who love Spartan Races and the Tough Mudder, there may be another challenge for you – the Taiwan Ironman: 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, and a 26.2 mile run.  Sound interesting?  Read about Jason Kuo’s, president of TAP-DC, great adventure in Taiwan as well as other challenges that may inspire you to make the trek.
September marks the beginning of Fall, the return of the pumpkin spice latte, and of course Fashion Week. Taiwanese American designers, Alexander Wang and Jason Wu, presented their collections at New York Fashion Week to great accolade. Check out their collections below.
Celebrity DJ Avicii is well known for his various collaborations with other amazing musicians and he’s done it again, this time with Taiwanese American singer/songwriter, producer, actor, all around all-star Wang LeeHom. Check out their new song Lose Myself by Wang Leehom feat Avicii.
