Living Springs
Mission Vision Celebration
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 19

9:15-10:30am (between services)

Congregational Meeting (with constitution update vote)
will be held at 10:20.
Something big is happening in the life of Living Springs.  So, let’s celebrate!
The Mission Vision that was shaped by the Holy Spirit and over 200 of our fellow members over the last year is a reality. While ministry has been happening since the founding of our congregation 26 years ago – since the church was born nearly 2000 years ago, with this vision for mission, we as disciples are affirmed to carry out the ministry as the Spirit is tugs each of our hearts.  That’s exciting … and something significant to celebrate in the history of our congregation!
So, let’s celebrate with a served, sit-down, family-style brunch between worship services on October 19.  The Celebration will take place from 9:15-10:30. While we eat we will see the results of the Mission Vision for Living Springs through sharing by various congregation members, DVD and PowerPoint.
Save the date and plan to attend and even if you don’t wish to eat, we ask you to attend this important event in the life of our congregation.
To confirm your household attendance, please call the church office (736-0661), or sign-up in the narthex, or respond on-line.  Please confirm by October 15.

Lessons for Sunday, October 5

First Reading: Isaiah 5:1–7

The prophet sings a sad, parable-like love song about the relationship between God and Israel. In this song Israel is compared to a promising vineyard. Despite God's loving care, the vineyard that is Israel has brought forth "wild grapes" of injustice and distress, when fine grapes of justice and righteousness were expected.

Psalm (ELW): Psalm 80:7–15

Look down from heaven, O God; behold and tend this vine. (Ps. 80:14, 15)

Second Reading: Philippians 3:4b–14

Paul reviews some of his supposed credentials, which no longer have any bearing in comparison to the right relationship he has been given through the death of Christ. The power of Christ's resurrection motivates him to press on toward the ultimate goal, eternal life with Christ.

Gospel: Matthew 21:33–46

Jesus tells a parable to the religious leaders who are plotting his death, revealing that their plans will, ironically, bring about the fulfillment of scripture.
