When black cats prowl and pumpkins gleam…may luck be yours on Halloween!

Simon the Kitten...

Simon is a kitten who was found in Parksville with some undiagnosed health issues.  CatSpan has been fostering Simon for the past six weeks.  Somedays he acts like a kitten while other days he is very unwell.  Bosley's in Parksville supplied Simon with a heated bed (which he loves!) for which we need to do some fund-raising for.  If you wish to donate to Simon's mounting vet bills, or to his "New Bed" fund, please visit our Canada Helps.org page.

You can watch videos of Simon in his new bed here and here!

CatSpan's Adoptables...

For the hockey fans out there…meet Easton, Bauer and Stanley!

These three male kittens were found along with their feral Mom and fourth timid brother south of Parksville.  The feral Mom and timid brother found a wonderful new home in CatSpan's Barn Cat Relocation Program.

Easton and Bauer have been adopted, but Stanley is currently at Bosley's in Parksville waiting to meet his fur-ever family.

To celebrate Feral Cat Day*, CatSpan is holding a cat bed sale!

When:  Saturday October 18th, 2014
Where: Bosley's in Parksville
Time: 10 am to 2 pm

September 2014 Trapping Report

Total Number of Spays and Neuters: 16
Number of Cats admitted to the Barn Cat Relocation Program: 2
Total Number of New Barns in the Barn Cat Relocation Program: 1

In September, five feral cats were released back to where they were trapped following spay/neuter, five non-feral cats were adopted, and two more cats are currently in foster home.

It was another busy month!  Thank you to all the hard-working volunteers and dedicated Veterinary Hospitals.

CatSpan held its first online Auction on Facebook late in September.  CatSpan volunteer, Jen Cope, donated the hand-made felted wool cat cave.  We're pleased to report the highest bid was $150!

Did you know…when CatSpan holds its next Facebook auction, you can email your bids in if you don't have a Facebook account?  You sure can.  We'll send out more details when the next auction is about to start.

Are you a local business or crafter interested in donating an prize to CatSpan for auction either online or at our next Silent Auction?  If so, send us an email to catspanfundraising@hotmail.com!

Black Cats…Bad Luck or Good Luck?

Despite the numerous superstitions about black cats being bad luck, here are some examples of black cats being good luck:
  • Japan: a black cat owned by a single woman is supposed to bring her many suitors.
  • English Midlands: a black cat given to a bride is supposed to bring good luck to her.
  • Scotland: a black cat's arrival into a house is thought to signify prosperity.
  • Germany: if a black cat crosses in front from left to right, it is thought to signal good things ahead.
Did you know you can order CatSpan cat beds anytime?  Visit our photo album here to view the current stock, and send us an email.

Pick up in Parksville or Qualicum often, Nanoose and Nanaimo on
occasion.

Bosley's in Parksville usually has a few CatSpan cat beds that they will happily sell to you.  Thanks Bosley's!
