AMBASSADOR SPOTLIGHT
Each month, we will highlight a Clinical, Faculty, or Student Ambassador from the University community, who strives to carry out the Compassionate Care Initiative's mission in their environment.
Meet Compassionate Care Clinical Ambassador Jody Sweeney, LCSW. An Upaya Being With Dying 2014 attendee, Jody is interested in bringing mental health trainings to clinical staff so they can be involved in crises or emergency situations with more confidence. Read more about Jody and how she is implementing compassionate care practices in the University of Virginia Medical Center.
This fall, in September & October, the Compassionate Care Initiative held five Resiliency Retreats, for around 150 nursing students at Morven. Students were taught a sampling of self-care practices, including yoga, reflective writing, mindful eating, massage, and meditation. These tools can be used now as students, but can also be carried into their professional lives, as future nurses. Below are a few photos.
