You are receiving this email because you are awesome and want to stay updated on the Historic BID and our fantastic neighborhood.
50 years after the last streetcar tracks were ripped out of Downtown streets, L.A. Streetcar is hard at work to provide Los Angeles with a streetcar system once again, connecting our neighborhoods and decreasing traffic.

After Downtown residents voted to support a Streetcar tax measure in Dec 2012, the City fully backed the project in 2013 by securing a 30-year operational budget for the urban circulator.  Now, Streetcar is in the federal grant process, going through its environmental review, and getting final cost estimates.

But as it works through its final hurdles, Streetcar needs your support - it's time to put pressure on the City to get those tracks back in the ground as quickly as possible!

Learn more about Streetcar and how you can get involved by attending a Community Meeting on Monday, October 6th - 6pm at LAPD Headquarters (1st/Main).

Visit streetcar.la for more info on how Streetcar is moving L.A. forward.

Artists are taking the streets of the Historic Core for the inaugural Los Angeles Plein Air Festival on October 9-12.

Produced by Raw Materials Art Supplies and Downtown Art Walk, the festival will be a casual, interactive, and educational weekend-long event celebrating outdoor painting and drawing. Artists of all levels from Southern California and beyond are invited to participate in four days of painting, drawing and sketching the urban landscape of Downtown L.A.

Visit their website for more info and to register.

Calling all Historic Core businesses!  Come join us and other DTLA businesses at the Historic Downtown Building and Merchants Association's (HDBMA) Quarterly Meeting on Wednesday, October 15th at 10 am.

We warmly invite you to take this opportunity to connect with your neighbors and voice your concerns as a business owner. Come discuss networking events, business workshops, filming and public safety issues, and community outreach tools over breakfast.  The meeting will be held at the beautifully designed Austere on Hill and 9th.

Please RSVP here.  Hope to see you there!

PARKLET UPDATE

Thank you for your patience with the LA Cafe-adjacent parklet. As many of you know, the southernmost parklet on Spring at 7th was heavily damaged after a drunk driver smashed into it over the summer.  The BID is working tirelessly with LADOT and City Council to get the parklet rebuilt.

Stay tuned for more information.

The Historic Core BID team is honored to receive the International Downtown Association’s (IDA) Merit Award for our Historic Core Doggie Relief Stations initiative.  To help reduce the rampant dog waste remains on our sidewalks, we installed artificial turf deodorizing patches on Spring at 7th, 7th at Main, and 6th at Main.

Our project was selected in the Public Space category, which recognizes outstanding projects that enhanced the urban design or physical function of a downtown.  By winning this award, we'll now have funding opportunities to install more Doggie Relief Stations in the next few months!
Thanks for your support and love of Downtown LA's Historic Core!

Best,
