New Balance Group Runs and Promotions
This year, we're partnering with New Balance to offer some great activities for runners during the week before Ironman (aka next week!).
We'll be converting the tent in front of the store to feature brand new New Balance Run Big and Run Aloha gear. We'll also be showcasing some of New Balance's currently popular shoes, including the 980 Fresh Foam and the 1400 racing flat.
New Balance will also be offering additional group runs that come with the opportunity to run in some of their shoes. Garmin will also be represented and allowing runners to test out some of their products. After the run, fuel up with products from Gu and Bonk Breaker and maybe win some New Balance prizes and goodies! More information on the dates and times of the runs is contained in the flyer below.
Tropical Frozen Yogurts will also be offering yogurt after the Wednesday morning group run, so definitely try to make it to that one!

Couch to 5k 2014!
Each year, people get inspired by the Ironman athletes and decide to start an exercise program. Sometimes they have a hard time figuring out where to start, though. For the past several years we’ve hosted a free Couch-to-5k Training Program in Kona to get people off their couches and to the finish line of a 5k safely.
This year the program will start on Tuesday, October 21 with a kick-off meeting at 5 p.m. at our Alii Drive store. We will start with our first run that same day. The program is very gradual and starts off with alternating intervals of running and walking before progressing to just running.
The program will conclude with the Jingle Bell Beach Run on Sunday, December 21 at 7:30 a.m. at its new location - Coconut Grove Marketplace! More information on the Jingle Bell Beach Run is available on their website. You can register for the Jingle Bell Beach Run online or at Big Island Running Company.
Throughout the program we will also have talks on topics important to new runners, including proper gear, common injuries, stretches and strength exercises to prevent those injuries and nutrition.
A registration form for the Couch-to-5K program is available at bigislandrunningcompany.com under Running Groups.
