                 Happy October Everyone!

Hi Heart-Centered Community!

Well - the calendar says 'Fall' and the stores are filled with Pumpkins and Halloween merchandise, but it's still HOT here!  This time of year, I definitely left my 'Heart' back in New England where I first experienced the most glorious autumn season.

I will be traveling back East later this month and I am really looking forward to enjoying the cooler weather and (hopefully) spectacular fall foliage.  I'll be in Silver Bay, NY at The Bigger Game Retreat.  I will be getting certified to deliver this transformational Corporate program.

Octobers' focus changed from what was listed in last months newsletter.  I decided this month will be about 'Health & Wellness' - with a focus on mental health.

I'm on a crusade to open up a dialogue about mental health and get us to a place where it's 'ok' to talk about it, share about it, and ask for support and help.  That's one of the reasons I decided to write my book, 'Lift your Spirits, Love your Life'.  I invite you all to follow the blog as I post and share your comments, thoughts and your own personal stories.

It's time for all of us to 'Come out of the Closet'!

Each week 'M&Ms' will cover different aspects of Health & Wellness.  This past week was the first one on 'mental health'.  I've also extended the 'conversation' onto the blog, so click through and share your comments.

And, I want to hear from you too!  I'm looking to dialogue more with everyone, so let's engage in a conversation. Tweet me at @heartcenteredpg

Lastly, I've just started uploading some of the talks I've given at the Global Truth Center on Heart-Centered Programs YouTube channel.  Hope you check it out, subscribe, comment, and share them!  I'm looking to build a following!

NEXT MONTH:
November : Holiday Stress

Here's to living a Heart-Centered Life filled with Joy, Love, and Happiness!

warmly,

Improving Emotional Health

People who are emotionally healthy are in control of their emotions and their behavior. They are able to handle life’s challenges, build strong relationships, and recover from setbacks.

But just as it requires effort to build or maintain physical health, so it is with mental and emotional health. Improving your emotional health can be a rewarding experience, benefiting all aspects of your life, including boosting your mood, building resilience, and adding to your overall enjoyment of life.

Mental or emotional health refers to your overall psychological well-being. It includes the way you feel about yourself, the quality of your relationships, and your ability to manage your feelings and deal with difficulties.

Good mental health isn't just the absence of mental health problems. Being mentally or emotionally healthy is much more than being free of depression, anxiety, or other psychological issues. Rather than the absence of mental illness, mental and emotional health refers to the presence of positive characteristics.

Similarly, not feeling bad is not the same as feeling good. While some people may not have negative feelings, they still need to do things that make them feel positive in order to achieve mental and emotional health.

People who are mentally and emotionally healthy have:

Wellness

SPECIFIC TIPS

1. Physical: Today more than ever we need to find ways to be more physically active.  Many of us have sedentary jobs and we're so busy that exercise tends to fall to the bottom of our 'to-do' lists.  But, exercise & activity is vital to our physical health - as well as eating well and getting enough sleep! You've heard the saying that your body is your Temple.  Make it your 'House of Worship'!

2. Mental:  A mind is a terrible thing to waste - so don't!  Fill it with uplifting, positive thoughts.  Read, watch educational and inspiring talks, learn something new, join a club on meetup, participate in intellectual discussions, do puzzles, play chess ... the list is endless.  Your choice - but choose wisely!

3. Emotional:  Not everyone is comfortable expressing their emotions and many of us were taught to keep our feelings to ourselves. But holding them in or suppressing them not only damages our health, but also our relationships.  Find ways to express yourself and share your feelings.  Journal, draw, write, sing, dance, laugh or cry.  Talk to someone.  People care.  I care!

  4. Spiritual:  This means different things to everyone, but our spiritual wellness comes from looking outside of ourselves and connecting to something greater than our own existence.  It's also about  being of service to others.  Volunteer, meditate, attend a spiritual center, Walk in Nature, Cultivate an 'Attitude of Gratitude', Live as if everyday is a Miracle!
