Hi Everyone!

Just a few notes for you, about what I’ve been up to and about to do too! It's been so busy and is getting busier!!!

Life is not a destination …. it’s a journey
Firstly I wanted to take a moment to say I’ve been saddened to hear of the death of Jan, a woman who followed my music for many years. I’ve been thinking that my music has not only touched and been part of peoples lives, but conversely, people have touched my own life too!

Some fans have followed me for many years and absolutely feel very much part of my own journey. I’m blessed by that gift. As I continue to grow musically, I want to keep making music forever, it's such a powerful, healing and positive force for all of us! Sending my love to Linzi and the family… x

Round up

Iain Anderson Show BBC Radio Scotland

Got the opportunity to sit in for Iain for a week… thanks to ‘much ado’ and Stuart for babysitting me. I have to say I was surprised at just how much prep goes into each and every show. I loved the opportunity. Hopefully those that listened in to the x3 3 hours shows liked it!

Just confirmed that I will sit in for Iain again on Wednesday 15th October... feel free to send a few requests in! Do remember that I can't play Horse stuff!

Germany
Had the most wonderful time in Cologne and Munich. The first ‘gig’ was as part of a very special Aids Gala at the massive Maritim Hotel.

I’m fond of Germany and have spent a lot of time there over the years. I was a headliner on both stages and I got to renew old friendships and forged some new ones too! I was treated so well and the crowd, well what can I say? 20,000 in Cologne and 10,000 in Munich … what a couple of dream gigs.

Commonwealth Games - Merchant City
I was proud to have been asked to be part of Festival 2014 The entertainment accompanying The games - quite an honour!

In addition to the Kelvingrove bandstand gig, I also played at Merchant square in the centre of Glasgow. This was so unexpected and last minute I had no idea what my audience would be like. Gemma, Chris and myself were bowled over by the enthusiasm, a large percentage of the audience were from abroad or at least much further afield than Glasgow. Best part was meeting people who were fans from some time before and who had ‘lost’ me!

Kelvingrove Bandstand 25+
I got to play at the Glasgow Kelvingrove bandstand during its relaunch at the Commonwealth games. I’m delighted to say that in spite of the weather, there was a very healthy audience who turned out to see us. Some people had been at the original radio Clyde gig 25 years before so a bit of a special and nostalgic night for them too. I couldn't believe the transformation in the old place… showers, lift and 2 dressing rooms, in an extension to the rear of the building. Big difference in the building the from the younger model ….

Riverside show STV
Gemma and I did a live session on the Riverside show for the lovely David and Jennifer. We performed Close my eyes and count to ten and Careful. Lovely team over there!

Party at the Palace
What a delight to be part of the first PatP in Linlithgow. Well done John and Peter, quite a task, to organise such a big event with such great success. We were on Sunday - day 2 and the weather completely let us down, torrential rain mostly all day, but the audience did not disappoint or let it spoil their fun… Standing in plastic ponchos and umbrellas they were a brilliant crowd. I loved it - great experience and headliners Simple Minds put on a brilliant show, of course! I hear its confirmed for 2015 too.

Special Events

Fun Palaces
Fun Palaces is a UK wide project originally envisaged by Joan Littlewood. It has been relaunched by Stella Duffy and a host of other eager people. Taking place over the weekend of 4th and 5th Oct. Honoured to be participating in the first nationwide project Fun Palaces. To find out how you can get involved in our Glasgow fun Palace click here.

The Gaia Weekender
I’m so delighted to be special guest at this event Fri 24th - Sun 26th. It's an intimate gathering of like-minded women in Blairgowrie, set in the Perthshire countryside.
  • exclusive country house setting for our private use
  • wonderful company
  • autumnal Scottish scenery
  • special culinary delights
  • wood burning fires
I will perform in an intimate evening of music, celebration, anecdotes and stories. Also performing is the inimitable VG Lee, who will be our guest author and comedienne. The respected author and comedian will be ‘up close and personal’ with a selection of her recent work. There are only a couple of places left. Would love to see you there. Further details here.

Writing
As well as writing songs for album no. 10, I’m currently composing for a project which will be revealed in October to be premiered in 2015… very exciting but nerve racking….ongoing as we say!

Australia - November
I’m off to see the … Feast festival, in Adelaide! First however, I kick off my visit to Australia with a return to Ellington Club in Perth. I get to see some of my family and friends then too, before heading eastward. Apart from getting to sing in Australia, my trip this time is centred around the theme of anti-bullying. In Port Augusta, Mt. Gambier and Adelaide I will be talking with and mentoring youngsters (and indeed anyone who else wishes). This is something that is close to my heart and I’m delighted to get an opportunity to share my own experiences or thoughts. Thanks to Feast for the invite and the beginning of a great partnership!

This is going to be an amazing trip!

The Albert Kennedy Trust
I'm honoured to say that I will be working with the Albert Kennedy Trust on various projects imminently. Its a cause very dear to me. I think of my own experiences growing up and although I was mixed up and unhappy my family would never disown me.

As you can see I have been very very busy. Not only in this country but further afield too. There is more international travel planned which is not only exciting but inspiring! With work on the new album begun and other projects I expect to be kept pretty busy in the next 12 months. I will of course be sharing it all with you!
