CARLOS AND HECTOR GET A COMPUTER!

Carlos and Hector are brothers who are students in high school.   They walk hours every day to go to classes. Carlos has recently graduated, but Hector still has several years to go.

Due to the severe illness of their parents, their family is very low in resources and the kids do not eat every day.   But thanks to a private donation of a computer, and the recent installation of electricity, Carlos and Hector were able to do some of their homework at  home!  And Hector continues to use the computer to help him in his studies.

Thanks so much for your generosity!!  You make a difference in kids' lives!

CHILDREN'S DAY FUN!
This year we were able to team up our wonderful donors with donors from Project Ascend, Central America, to provide lots of candy, toys, and treats for children in close to 20 village schools!  We were even able to buy piñatas for several classes to help them celebrate Children's Day in style!  Thank you so much for your generosity!
B.V. EXPANSION TO NICARAGUA AND GUATEMALA!

RECYCLING FOR SOAP PROJECT STILL GOING STRONG!
Our recycling program and soap exchange is still in full force, and we are happy to report we've had to go buy more soap to exchange for all the recyclables the kids in La Laguna have collected!  As a result the community is cleaner and general hygiene has improved!  Even the simplest project can have a huge impact on the quality of life; thanks so much to the wonderful donors who have helped support this project!!
"Funeral of a Desk" by Adin Alvarado and the children of El Chilar
Click the video below to watch the tragic (and just a little bit humorous) tale of a desk and the children who loved it, but had to say goodbye...  (For our friends who don't speak Spanish, see the translation below...)

Narrator translation:  Today, with much sorrow and pain, we take a desk that has served in our school, and the poor thing has died, and we’re going to bury it.

Those present here today are crying for their desk.  Cry, kids, for your desk!  Goodbye, desk! The kids are crying, sad, because their desk is leaving.  Look at these kids crying for their desk…

This is the sad reality in our schools, and we want to ask for the help of many good, generous people.

We’ll bury this along with the desk, poor little deceased thing, Rest In Peace.
