Audiologists Using the Hearing In Noise

Test (HINT): Request for Information

Your clinic could receive referrals for HINT testing for police candidates in your area.

Does your audiology clinic use the Hearing In Noise Test (HINT)? The Ontario Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services is currently revising its hearing standards for the recruitment of police constable candidates, based on HINT research from the audiology and speech-language pathology programs at the University of Ottawa.

If police constable candidates fail an initial screening, they may need to be referred for HINT testing. If your clinic uses the HINT and would like to be identified as such to the Ministry, please send your clinic’s contact information and address to vvaillan@uottawa.ca

Please direct any further questions to Véronique Vaillancourt, M.Sc.S., Hearing Research Laboratory, University of Ottawa, at vvaillan@uottawa.ca.
