Our August trip was dedicated in memory of Cissy Rodriguez, MTM Fundraising Coordinator, honoring her love and support of our ministry. Families from the colonia joined MTM volunteers in prayer and song in celebration for the great works of our friend Cissy. Gracias, Claudia for your help with the ceremony and the beautiful statues of St. Francis of Assisi and the guardian angel. We appreciate the men of the colonia for their work on the beautiful memory garden and Father Tony for his blessing and kind healing words. God is merciful and kind, his presence was felt strongly during this special ceremony!

August Mission Trip Report by

August means uniform, school supply and grocery distribution at the colonia. After an extremely busy Thursday organizing uniforms and packing school supplies for the sponsored children, we commenced distribution Friday morning. Simultaneously with the distribution of uniforms to the sponsored children, volunteers were preparing the rest of the school supplies for general distribution on Saturday, final grades were being collected and scholarship applications were being delivered to the seven sponsorship students who are attending university this semester. When the dust cleared on Saturday afternoon the 14 MTM volunteers, along with those from the colonia, had sorted, packed, and distributed school supplies to over 1000 students and uniforms to 183 sponsored students. 650 families received bags of groceries containing: rice, beans, pasta, flour and cooking oil.
It is so rewarding to work with such dedicated and hardworking volunteers who continually focus on doing their best for the children and families of the colonia. Without the love, energy and commitment of each of MTM's volunteers and donors, our mission would not be successful. A heartfelt thank you to each of you. We could not do it without you!
  
SPECIAL NEEDS: Cash donations to help purchase groceries $8.65 per family and full size blankets $4.18 each as well as help fund the Christmas distribution.
OCTOBER 10-11:
- 500+ blankets will be given to help our families stay warm in the winter
- 80 beautiful hand made baby blankets & wash cloths with soap donated by Pat & Jack Endres
- Despensa for 650 families
DECEMBER 5-6: Christmas in the Colonia!
- Party for sponsored kids and their families
- Santa will give soccer balls, stuffed animals and goodies to all children
- Despensa for 750 families
