Lesson 412: God's Heart, Pt.3
God’s heart also endured suffering for us.
Heb.12:2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross
It hurts God when we sin, and it hurts Him to discipline us. He takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked. He wants them to turn away from evil and toward Him. Ezek.33:11
God allowed our punishment to fall on His beloved Son. To save us, He took our punishment.
The heart that disciplines us is the same heart that sacrificed His Son in our place. This assures us that His love endures forever.
Isa.53:10 it was the will of the Lord to crush him (God the Father killed Jesus)
Acts 2:23 Jesus delivered up according to the definite plan & foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men.
Psa.100:5 the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
