2014 International Conference Edition

The conference will be held at the COEX on the 3rd floor, in and around Hall E. The nearest subway stop is Samseong Station (Line 2); the nearest entrances at the COEX are the East and South Gates. Additional transportation information and directions with photos are available online.

When you arrive at the conference on Saturday or Sunday, take the escalators up to the 3rd floor, toward Hall E, and turn right at the top of the escalator. Registration will be right in front of you! (Friday pre-conference workshop attendees, turn left and head toward 307.)
Registration is in three sections this year: KAFLE Members, Onsite Registration, and Pre-registration. If you pre-registered (registered online), your pass will be waiting for you in the Pre-registration area under your last/family name. If you plan to register at the conference, please join the Onsite Registration line.
Onsite prices for a weekend conference pass are 60,000 won for members, 85,000 won for nonmembers, and 30,000 won for full-time undergraduate students, CASH ONLY. ATMs are available throughout the ground floor of the COEX building.
Registration will be open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, October 4, and from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. on Sunday, October 5.

There are still a few spaces remaining for the pre-conference workshops on Friday, October 3, so onsite registration will be available! From 9 a.m.-12 p.m., attendees can register for and join the workshops. Registration prices are 45,000 won for members, 100,000 won for non-members (cash only).
Three different strands are available: Young Learners, Adult Learners, and Professional Development; attendees must choose one. The workshops will be from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. in the COEX, 3rd floor, Rooms 307A-C (Conference Rooms South). Seating is limited, and tickets are available on a first come, first served basis.

Want to attend the conference, but just for one day? This year, Sunday-Only conference passes will be available onsite! These special one-day passes will cost 40,000 won for members, 60,000 won for nonmembers, and 20,000 won for full-time undergraduate students, CASH ONLY. These passes will only be available from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. on Sunday, October 5.

The English Connection Pre-conference Issue Now Online
The pre-conference (Fall 2014) issue of The English Connection (TEC) is now available on the KOTESOL website for members to read online or download as a PDF. Contents include special features by Michael Long and Gabriel Diaz Maggioli and interviews with Scott Thornbury, Ahmar Mahboob, and Angel Lin. (Note: You must be logged in and a current member to access this issue!)

Are you a KOTESOL member? If so, the Membership Committee cordially invites you to a Members' Social & Networking Event on Saturday, October 4! From 6:15-7:30 p.m., members are invited to enjoy some wine, cheese, and other light refreshments in the KOTESOL Cafe (next to Hall E). Come relax, reflect, and socialize with your KOTESOL compatriots! (Not attending the conference? Not a problem! The social is open to all members.)

Online voting in the KOTESOL National Election ends at noon on October 3! After that time, members can vote in person at the International Conference; paper ballots will be available onsite. Additional information, instructions for what to do if you didn't receive an electronic ballot, and the candidates' statements are available here. The results of the election will be announced at the Annual Business Meeting (ABM) on October 5, 3-5 p.m., during the International Conference.

The KOTESOL Annual Business Meeting (ABM) is scheduled for October 5, 3-5 p.m., during the International Conference. At the meeting, the results of the KOTESOL National Election will be announced, and members will be invited to vote on two proposed amendments to the Constitution and Bylaws.

Three finalists will be squaring off in the final round of the Speech Showdown on Sunday afternoon, from 3:30-4:50 p.m. in Room 308A. Enjoy live speeches as the finalists showcase their oratorial prowess!

Light Refreshments & KOTESOL Merchandise at the KOTESOL Cafe
Throughout the conference, head to the KOTESOL Cafe (next to Hall E) for free water, coffee, and other light refreshments, courtesy of the Daejeon-Chungcheong Chapter and the Membership Committee!
KOTESOL merchandise will also be available for purchase, including ceramic mugs, travel mugs, notebooks, lapel pins--and two new mystery items making their international debut! Prices range from 3,000 won to 8,000 won (cash only).
