Just What is Pets In Stitches?

Since Pets In Stitches is a new concept in the Greater Dayton area, we are asked about our services. When people hear “affordable,” it conjures different ideas. Some of those thoughts may be:
  • Why does my full-service veterinarian charge more than Pets In Stitches?
  • Will a real veterinarian perform my pet’s spay or neuter?
  • Is my pet sleeping when the surgery is completed?
These are understandable questions. You love your pets and want what’s best for them. The term “affordable” may incorrectly imply that Pets In Stitches cuts corners or does not provide a high level of veterinary care.

So, here are the answers to those burning questions!

Why does my full-service veterinarian charge more than Pets In Stitches?
Both a full-service veterinarian and Pets In Stitches provide outstanding care. A full-service veterinary clinic offers broader care than Pets In Stitches. Because of the additional services provided, a full-service veterinary clinic requires additional hours, staff, equipment, medications, supplies, and a larger facility so as to meet your pet’s every need. These extra costs for the full-service veterinary clinic must be passed along to you, the client.

Pets in Stitches controls costs by focusing exclusively on spay and neuter services. By doing so, a fully staffed facility does not need to be maintained twelve hours a day, six days a week. Rest assured that Pets In Stitches is available via telephone and email for after-hour concerns and will recheck your pet at no charge during office hours or at specially arranged times. Pets In Stitches’ narrow focus means no need for x-ray machines, ultrasounds, blood testing equipment, and illness-related medications which are purchased by most full-service veterinarians. Pets In Stitches does use top-of-the-line equipment, medications, and supplies for excellent spay and neuter services.
Will a real veterinarian perform my pet’s spay or neuter?
Our veterinarian, Dr. Rastetter, is a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She has practiced in full-service veterinary clinics as well as shelters and has performed over 20,000 spays and neuters. She brings a proficient, safe, and knowledgeable approach to performing surgeries at Pets In Stitches.

Along with Dr. Rastetter, Pets In Stitches is staffed by qualified veterinary professionals including a licensed
Registered Veterinary Technician, Veterinary Assistant, Front Office staff, and Disease Control Aide all dedicated to your pet’s successful spay or neuter.

Is my pet sleeping when the surgery is completed?
Pets In Stitches’ patients are completely anesthetized throughout their spay or neuter. Current research in pain management is used so as to minimize pain for your pet during and after its spay or neuter. Not only are we veterinary professionals, we are also pet lovers who provide caring service to your pet.

What Pets In Stitches Clients are Saying

"We brought our two nine month old kittens, Spooky and Blaze to be spayed recently. The hair has grown back and the tiny scars have faded but we felt the need to touch base with you.

I would, and have repeatedly, recommended you as a 10 PLUS to colleagues, readers, family and friends. I would not hesitate returning, or telling anyone else to use you.

If I were going in for plastic surgery to repair an injured part of my body, a general practitioner could probably perform the task to some degree. But my choice would be, not a doctor who COULD repair my body but a doctor who does nothing BUT those kinds of repairs. And that’s the reason we chose Pets In Stitches. While almost all veterinarians will spay and neuter, why not go to one who does nothing else and does it with precision? From the first phone call I made with questions until the final “How are your kitties doing?” phone call from the staff, the services were outstanding. Being a worrier by nature I called to check progress and later to ask a post-surgery question when we arrived home. It was as if it was our personal staff! We were kept totally informed and we loved it! And I truly like that you Dr. Rastetter, not staying behind the curtain until “show time” as some veterinarians do, were right there involved in all aspects of our visit.

You are more than affordable in fees charged, more than knowledgeable and skilled, more than simply caring and more than the total package. There’s nothing you could do to serve better. You are simply the best! And we thank you, as do Spooky and Blaze!"

Keeping You 'In Stitches'

From Practice Manager, Steve Knick

So, I'm making reminder calls to clients for the Monday surgery schedule. After introducing myself to one client she says, "You're a real person, aren't you?!?!" When I tell her yes, she yells to someone else in the house, "Hey honey, a REAL PERSON called to remind me about Fluffy's appointment. I wish OUR Dr.'s would do that!!!"

The moral of the story is, maybe the most efficient method isn't always the best method.
