Through KAPISANAN's Mobile Programming, elementary and high school students have the opportunity to explore and create art, while simultaneously learning about Filipino culture and heritage, as well as building self-esteem, identity and leadership!

Now in its third year, K Mobile has grown to establish a variety of thematic workshops, each customizable to address your students' specific needs and wants. Don't miss out on this unique experience--click on the button below to get in on the educational fun!

...and students do not have to be Filipino to learn and enjoy!

Through KAPISANAN’s Mobile Programming, we are able to offer elementary and high school students the opportunity to explore and create art, while simultaneously learning about Filipino culture and heritage, as well as building self-esteem, identity, and leadership.

Schools can choose from a variety of thematic workshops, or even customize a workshop to address the students’ needs. Our team is comprised of young Filipino-Canadian professionals and a roster of professional artists who are working hard to develop quality programming to deliver to an underserved community. It is extremely important for youth from all cultures to see their own cultures reflected in the curriculum, and our workshops help this mission.

We encourage creative expression and through arts-based activities led by our artist facilitators, students will be able to discover their untapped potential. Our goal is to have students come out of our programs with new knowledge of Filipino culture, and most importantly, come out feeling inspired, confident and empowered.

Student Volunteer Opportunity!

Our ever-popular parol (lantern) making workshops return for another year, and we invite youth to help us prepare by creating art!

Do your students want a fun way to earn volunteer hours toward their high school diploma? At Kapisanan, students will construct star skeletons out of bamboo and (bonus!) experiment with blockprinting!

Between November 5th to 19th, students can drop by anytime during our office hours: Wednesdays and Thursdays (12-8PM) and Fridays (12-6PM).
Students who volunteer will be able to attend a parol making workshop on  November 20th, 22nd or 29th for free!
Do you want to get volunteer hours toward your high school diploma? Do you want to give back to your community? You can even focus your volunteer hours toward being part of an organizing committee (Outreach, Fundraising, Gallery, Events) where you can help build KAPISANAN’s impact in the community, at the same time learn how to get organized and meet amazing new people! - See more at: http://kapisanancentre.com/the-exchange/arts-mentorship#sthash.T2Pf3jrO.dpuf

CLUTCH & NAVIGATION Programs:
Open House

Thursday, November 13th, 2014
6:30-8:30PM

Kapisanan Headquarters, 167 Augusta Avenue

CLUTCH and NAVIGATION are 6-month concurrent, arts-based, cultural immersion programs for Filipino youth, ages 17 to 24 years. CLUTCH and NAV are gender-specific, collaborative programs, which will empower Filipino youth with a sense of who they are, where they come from, and why their voice matters. These programs enable participants to start a dialogue with each other through the arts, get mentorship from professional artists within the community, have access to professional tools to hone their creativity, define their identity, and explore their cultural heritage.

To learn more about these programs and to meet the new volumes’ program coordinators, Kapisanan will host an open house where youth and parents can come and mingle with former alumni and mentors in order to get a better feel for what the program entails in terms of involvement, responsibility, and how the participants have benefited from their participation.

Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.

Why Kapisanan?

Kapisanan Philippine Centre for Arts & Culture is a multiple award-winning (1 2 | 3), youth-led charitable community organization based in Toronto. We create a safe space for Filipino-Canadian youth, both second generation and newcomers, to overcome multiple barriers that prevent them from meaningful engagement in society. At Kapisanan, youth activate their creativity to explore identity, fostering pride and self-confidence, inspiring and empowering them to realize their full potential.

Our multi-purpose facility in Kensington Market is also available for rentals.

Armed with an appetite for creative endeavours and community advancement, here at the K, we eat art and inspiration.

Come you eat now.
Halina, kain na.
