Stock Advisory - Ebola response

Please Note: The UNFPA Procurement Services Branch, Emergency team has a large quantity of Male latex condoms in stock, and available for shipment with no production time.
 
The condoms could provide much needed protection for survivors of Ebola as the virus can still be transmitted up to 7 weeks after recovery from the illness, according to WHO. Read more

Reproductive health in crisis settings; a basic human right
 

In celebration of World Contraception Day, September 26, 2014, the Population Council published an article written by Dr. Campbell Bright of UNFPA (PSB).

Price reductions in AccessRH catalog


As of September 23, 2014, female condom supplier, Cupid, is offering unit price savings of 4%.

The new volume discounts are as follows:
a)  Unit price reduced to $0.45 for procurement volume up to 50,000 pieces.
b)  Unit price reduced to $0.40 for procurement volume between 50,000 pieces and 180,000 pieces.
c)  Unit price reduced to $0.39 for procurement volume above 180,000 pieces.


Please note, that as of September 23, 2014, the minimum order quantity of Cupid female condoms has increased to 500 pieces.

Choices not Chance - generic contraceptives


Ensuring access to safe and reliable contraceptives is at the foundation of the AccessRH mission. In light of this, the catalog includes a wide range of WHO prequalified generic hormonal contraceptives, providing choice and value for money.

Quality Assurance capacity building workshops 

 
The UNFPA Procurement Services Branch (PSB) Quality Assurance team is hosting a number of Quality Assurance workshops between September and December 2014.

The aim of these workshops is to provide capacity building support in regards to quality assurance with the overall goal of intensifying demand, access and utilization of high quality reproductive health products. Such activities are critical to ensure protection to end users of UNFPA commodities and to widen the supplier base to UNFPA to geographical regions.
 
The Quality Assurance team is currently working on coordinating additional workshops related to registration of medicines in specific regions. For more information, or to participate in upcoming workshops, please contact the UNFPA PSB Quality Assurance team at psb.workshop@unfpa.org

Supplier Workshop 2014


On September 24-25, UNFPA Procurement Services Branch (PSB) hosted the 2014 Supplier Workshop in Copenhagen, Denmark. 
Twenty-four participants from a number of countries, including Denmark, India and the Netherlands took part in the two day workshop. The sessions served as an introduction to the new UNFPA Procurement initiatives including; Green Procurement, Generic Hormonal Contraceptives, Strategic Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Forecasting, Quality Assurance of Hormonal & Non Hormonal Contraceptives and Emergency Humanitarian Response within procurement.

Suppliers from Bayer Pharma AG and Pfizer gave presentations on topics including; product innovations, communication and quality assurance practices, delivery timeliness and customer requests fulfillment among others. Participants were additionally able to share insights and experiences as well as to discuss various supplier needs and expectations.  

Thanks to all participants for the success of this year’s Supplier Workshop, which aimed to provide continued improvement in the partnerships and work collaborations between UNFPA and its suppliers, that will lead to better delivery for reproductive health and family planning.
