The SW Community Garden won a $1,000 grant from the DC Government's Love Your Block program to build an additional raised bed. On Sunday, October 26th, starting at 9am, members of the community and the garden will come together to build this new plot. Come out, if you'd like to help!

WHAT'S 'GROW-ING' ON IN THE GARDEN:

Yesterday, during our Sunday work day, a number of new visitors came to the garden.

After celebrating a baby shower, friends of fellow gardener, Pam Daley, decided to check the garden out. And it's a good thing they did -- they helped harvest 1.5 pounds of mustard greens, and plant winter rye and hairy vetch in 3 of the raised beds.

We also had 2 new visitors from the neighborhood. One woman, who lives right across the street from the garden, stopped in and took some of the mustard greens and kale with her.

For the next couple of work days we'll continue to harvest, plant cover crops, and compost. Join us before it gets too cold and dark!

That's it for now,
see you in the garden!

Putting into your mouth what the Earth has grown is perhaps your most direct connection to [it].
