“It always came back to my original belief of having passion. You can’t just generate passion; you’ve really got to have it from the beginning. You need to believe in yourself and in your projects. Very early in your career you need to shoot things that you believe in, things that you really want to shoot [photography]. You need to take risks. Don’t wait for the phone to ring. Success is only going to happen if you are out there really working to make it happen.” - Eric Meola

And now, the fabulous featured jumper of the week:
CARLOS RAMIREZ!
CARLOS RAMIREZ ...
From/Lives: am from Mexico City and I live in Port Moody.
Work: I have my own business as importer, retailer and distributor of Cuadra luxury leather products from Mexico.
Q: What inspires you to jump for joy?
A: Being part of an international project that brings people together by sharing the experience of jumping captured in photos that otherwise would be difficult to get. A very human thing to do but forgotten when we are adults. The ones that have jumped jump for joy now we have something in common!!!
Q. Your experience doing jumping photos?
A: Jumping reminds me of the joy and laughs I had when I was a kid jumping with my friends and cousins. Jumping makes me feel happy and free, I can see that on the photos.
Q: What inspires you in life?
A: Make a difference and leave a positive mark on those people I have come across.
Q: Greatest passion?
A: Create things or take on new projects with which I am not familiar to challenge myself.
Q: Driving force?
A: My father, someone who started from nothing and was able to make his way up. It is the story of the country side kid that goes to the city looking for a better life and he made it!!
Q: Philosophy?
A: Dream big, work hard and enjoy those beautiful moments that make life unique and worth living.
Q: Anything in the world?
A: Preserve and promote hand crafted traditions and products that are sadly disappearing because of mass produced products. I am Canada's distributor of Cuadra, a Mexican luxury brand of affordable leather products handmade in Mexico and my business Xixo has three goals: Preserve hand craftsmanship, provide good jobs in Mexico and offer Canadians quality leather products at a fair price. By the way "Xixo" means well done in Nahuatl, the language of the Aztecs in Mexico.
Q. Working on?
A: Our handcrafted and affordable luxury leather shoes, boots, handbags, jackets and accessories are available in our shop Xixo in downtown Vancouver and online at www.xixoapparel.com
Q: Mini bio, interesting facts about you or something special you want to share.
A: I am originally from Mexico City where I worked in federal government and moved to Vancouver fourteen years ago when I did a business program at SFU. Then I worked in international business for American and Canadian companies in diverse industries opening markets in Latin America, Australia, Africa, Middle East. Last year I started my own business Xixo Apparel as distributor in Canada of Cuadra leather products.
