Our projects and services...

Ditch the Dirt: this year's campaign went really well with a total of 31 surveys being completed. Unfortunately more dog poos were counted than last year which means this is still a big problem in the area. A big thanks to everyone that took part in the campaign this year.

Ditch the Dirt Hero: Woo Hoo!! We were delighted to pick up the Ditch the Dirt Hero Award 2014 from Clean Up Scotland on behalf of all the organisations that took part in this years campaign.

Re-branding/naming: please take a few minutes to complete our short survey to help us re-brand the organisation.

Glasgow WAVE volunteer map: we are putting together the first edition of our local volunteer map. Does your organisations offer volunteer opportunities? If so and you want to be included in the map then please contact Katherine (e: katherine@dumbartonroad.com)

Green Gym at Yoker: following on from the recent session at Yoker Ferry Road we will be on the Cycle Path in Yoker (by Lidl) on Wed 22 Oct (today!)

Bike Path upgrade: the bike path from Whietinch to Yoker will be upgraded over the winter months. We will be sending out more info about the schedule of works, details of diversions etc in the near future.

Liquid Greens Machine: we were invited to take part in a Love Food Hate Waste event in the city centre recently and we helped the organisers to compost and recycle 99% of the waste generated!

DRC Youth Project clean up: we have been doing a few activities with the DRC Youth Project in the past few months including the Ditch the Dirt surveys and a community clean up - well done everyone!

WH Malcolm energy recovery plant: we recently received a Proposal of Application Notice for an energy recovery plant on the WH Malcolm Construction head office site on South Street.

Scotstoun Community Council need you: Scotstoun Community Council are seeking nominations from local residents to join the Community Council - deadline is Fri 24 Oct.

Victoria Park update: following the recetnd ecision to try and lease a section of the park two proposals have been submitted to the Council. This issue has generated a lot of media coverage and local input.

Partick Community Garden: the Partick Community Growing Project was officially opened in 2014 and they have made this short video to captures the group’s progress and achievements.

Glasgow University divestment: as a result of campaigning from students Glasgow Uni has become the first University in Europe to agree to divesting any investments it has in fossil fuel companies.

GumDrop trial: Glasgow Uni Student's Union is taking part in an innovative trial to recycle chewing gum - using On The Go Bubbles made from recycled chewing gum!

Chief Resilience Officer appointed for Glasgow: the Council has appointed a Chief Resilience Officer to help prepare for, withstand and bounce back from catastrophic events and chronic stresses.

Community Champions: congratulations to the Whiteinch Centre (Public Service Award) and Maisie Macrae (Individual Award) who were both finalists in the Evening Times North West Community Champions Award

New health profiles for the City: Glasgow Centre for Population Health has published a new set of health and wellbeing profiles for all neighbourhoods across the City in the Understanding Glasgow website.

Glasgow City Council's Sustainable Transport award: the Council has won the Excellence in Cycling and Walking category at the recent Transport Awards

Carrier Bag charge coming soon: the carrier bag charge came into force on October 20. All retailers will charge a minimum of 5p per single use carrier bag and it us up to the retailers what they chose to do with the money. Read more at www.carrierbagchargescotland.org.uk
