Houston Halloween Festival

Minute Maid Park
The creators of Houston Zombie Walk present the Houston Halloween Festival and Horror Con at Minute Maid Park this Sunday, October 19th. This all-day, family-friendly event will feature a zombie walk, a haunted maze, a costume fashion show, a pumpkin patch, makeup effects artists, over 100 vendors, appearances by horror movie celebs, and musical acts such as Vanilla Ice! Houston Halloween Festival and Horrorcon raises money for local children and animal charities.

Fall Fun & Frankenstein

Oct 16, 22/Market Square Park

Join the Downtown District and Buffalo Bayou Partnership for the LAST Blanket Bingo of the year tonight at Market Square Park! $10 admission includes one Bingo packet (9 games) with additional cards (to be used in the final round only) and daubers available for purchase for $1 each. This month’s prizes include a weekend staycation at Hotel Icon, $500 cash, a private pontoon boat ride along Buffalo Bayou for you and your closest friends, as well as gift cards to various bars and restaurants around downtown. Packets go on sale at 6 pm and the game begins at 7. Be sure to get to the park early to secure your chances!
 
Get your spooks early this Halloween as The Alamo Drafthouse Rolling Roadshow presents Young Frankenstein, next Wednesday, October 22nd at 7 pm. Grab a blanket and a spot on the lawn and enjoy this classic 70’s film which tells the story of Dr. Frederick Frankenstein, grandson of the infamous Dr. Victor Frankenstein, who after years of denying his lineage, inherits his grandfather’s castle in Transylvania decides to resume his mysterious experiments.

Follow Market Square Park on Facebook for event and weather related updates. Lawn chairs, blankets, picnics, and four-legged friends are all welcome and encouraged!

Barkitecture

Tails will wag for GreenStreet's 6th Annual Barkitecture Houston benefiting Pup Squad Animal Rescue! Kick off the weekend full of fido and fun with Yappy Hour presented by SkyHouse Houston at McCormick and Schmick's on Friday, October 17 from 5-9 pm. The fun continues on Saturday from 12-5 pm as guests bid on state-of-the-art doghouse structures from some of Houston’s top design firms and our furry friends enjoy perks of their own such as doggie makeovers and tasty treats!

Skatestock III

Oct 18/Lee and Joe Jamail Skatepark

Skateboard legends roll into downtown this weekend with the return of Skatestock! This free family event includes an open skate session, a chance to meet and greet the legends, live painting sessions by internationally recognized artists and a powerful line up of Houston’s best bands. Special guests include skateboard hall-of-famers Stacy Peralta, Tony Alva, Steve Olson, Lance Mountain and more.

Korean Festival

Oct 18/Discovery Green

The 6th Annual Korean Festival will return to Discovery Green this weekend! Attendees will be inspired by the festival’s theme, Connect with Korea, as they experience authentic Korean cuisine and various cultural activities including performances by renowned Korean musicians and artists, local Korean folk dance and Taekwondo groups. Free. 10 am-7 pm. 

Total Jingle Bell Run & Walk Kickoff

The 31st Annual Total Jingle Bell Run & Walk Benefitting the Tellepsen Family Downtown YMCA kicks off with a party at Discovery Green Wednesday, October 22nd, from 11:30 am-1 pm. Guests will have the opportunity to get in the holiday spirit by playing in the snow, grabbing a bite to eat and getting motivated for this year's race.

Big Brew Craft Beer Festival

Talk about a beer lover’s dream week – more than 1,000 featured craft beers, pub crawls, craft beer dinners, home brewing demonstrations, talks with the best and brightest brewers in the craft beer industry and more are in store during Houston’s inaugural Big Brew, a week-long celebration of all things craft beer! Big Brew, the nation’s second-largest craft beer festival, kicks off next Monday, October 20th with events all over Houston followed by larger events, October 23-25, at the George R. Brown Convention Center. Highlights of the week-long beer fest include “The Great Match,” grand tasting sessions, the Big Brew best beard contest and much more!

The recent opening of the new JW Marriott Houston Downtown brings about two new food and drink destinations in Downtown Houston. Named Main Kitchen to reflect its location on Main Street and the hopes of becoming a staple in Houston’s culinary scene, the restaurant seats 120 and boasts an exhibition kitchen providing guests with an insight into Executive Chef, Erin Smith’s creative process.
