Hi Subscriber

Here at Pilot we are going to produce a weekly newsletter to keep you up-to-date with the work that we are doing and offer you insights into the many exciting projects that we have coming up.

This week, our newsletter focusses on our co-produced show Antigone that is currently touring, having completed a well-received run at Derby Theatre and Northern Stage. It has been receiving fantastic reviews from both national and local press.

"a chilling and powerful piece" The Stage ****
"a brilliant example of exciting and electrifying theatre truly connecting with a modern day audience." The Big Issue *****
"Incandescent with anger, urgency, and wit." The Times
"A darkly moody urban take on the Ancient classic" The Independent ****

In this new version by acclaimed playwright, Roy Williams, and directed by Pilot Theatre's Marcus Romer, Sophocles' play has been reworked into a contemporary setting, bringing this classic tale up-to-date. It is a timeless story about loyalty and truth, about how we make meaning out of life and death and what in the end really does matter.

We have a number of trailers for Antigone, including a teaser, a rehearsal feature, and an audience feedback video. You watch these trailers and view some of the rehearsal and production photography on our website by clicking here.

Interviews on BBC Radio

On Friday 26th September 2014, BBC Radio 4's Front Row programme broadcast an interview with writer of Pilot Theatre's Antigone, Roy Williams. Talking with Kirsty Lang, Roy spoke about his appreciation of Sophocles's Antigone and the ways in which it lends itself to a contemporary setting embedded in gang culture. You can download the programme as an MP3 on the podcast page. The link is provided below and the interview with Roy begins 6 minutes 48 seconds and ends at 14 minutes 54 seconds.
