New enchantments

Some would prefer to call them enhancements, but there is some magic behind ...

Based on the work that is being done for Eclipse Foundation's new dashboard, all the Grimoire Dashboards of our current customers are being updated to the new style. Check them out!

It has been an intense summer, with a lot of work in the VizGrimoireJS visualization components. We would like more web designers and web developers contributions: forks and pull requests are welcome.

But we have been refactoring the architecture and also adding more feautres to GrimoireLib, the core for getting the metrics shown in the dashboards and reports. For example:

  • New metrics available in source code management analysis like changes per branch, per module, per type of file type and even per log message left by a developer.
  • Improvements in the detection of pending reviews and new metrics available in the code review system analysis like:
    • Efficiency closing reviews (BMI: Backlog Management Index)
    • Time waiting for the reviewer or submitter
    • Iterations in the review process
    • Active core reviewers

Posts from the nest

Probably, you have expected this newsletter by October 1st, but we have waited until today for a good reason: A new version of OpenStack is being released today too! And, as always, we have written an article about its development activity and the organizations that have built the latest OpenStack release: Juno.

We have written mainly about our trip to USA on July, and the events we participated there:

One of Bitergia's founders, Jesús González-Barahona has posted article in O'Reilly radar about how to measure your open source community's age to keep it healthy.

And it's always good to see other people writing about us like ownCloud announcing its Community Statistics provided by us or the insights shown by Puppet Labs based on the work we do for them.

Owl trips

Our little owl has travelled a lot during summer, but for work! It has been in Portland during July for three big events:

In September, we have been in Rome, for MARKOS Project plenary meeting

Entranced

When a customer says "This stuff looks great!", or someone describes us like "the wonderful community metrics experts", it's clear that our enchantments are working well. Some new entranced companies have joined the list:

Two little tricks from the grimorire

Do you want to know the metrics behind each specific relase of your project? Now, it is possible to filter data by release. For example, OpenStack's Juno release metrics.

Software development is more than coding, and most of the time innovation starts with a discussion. Have you been worried about what is the most discussed topic in your project mailing list? Who is being the most active people in that are during last month?

Grimoire Dashboard provides that metrics for you!
