WRITERS' NIGHT OUT

CANCELLED THIS WEEK (OCT. 9)

The Memoir Group will Meet

Expand Your Mind!

Alison's free short story workshop will be this Monday (Oct 13) at 11:00 am at the Crystal Bridges Library.

Even if you missed September's meeting, you can jump right into this fun and relaxed program.

Write a story based one of the internationally-famous American art pieces now on exhibit at Crystal Bridges Museum. This exhibit is being touted by CBS Evening News, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, L.A.Times, and many others. What a stimulating experience to be amidst this art work while crafting your own art in the form of a short story.

For beginning or established writers.

THE WAY OF STORY
Craft & Soul of Writing

"The first purpose of writing is to clarify and reveal something in yourself, but the only way to do this is to get it out of yourself. The second purpose of writing is to share it with others, providing a mirror for humanity at large, as a modern day shaman."

"Never forget that to write experientially, not cerebrally, is
THE WAY OF STORY."
Our Beautiful Master Gardener

On many Thursdays, after she reads to the second-grade class at the elementary school, Glenda Moore comes to our building armed with her gardening tools.

In her head, Glenda has a memoir of her many years as an ER nurse. We're excited to help her write it as soon as she can work it in amidst all her many acts of compassion. Whether she's taking her elderly neighbors to the doctor, providing transportation in the new Carroll County Domestic Violence Safety Network, or helping out wherever she can, Glenda can always be found doing good.

Thanks to her, we have not lost any of the plants our Friends bought last spring, and we look forward to seeing our flowers and shrubs look even better once they are established next year.

Thank you, Glenda, our gardening angel.
